5. Stories

For the next few days, me and Chris talked and I heard the traumatic story explaining how he got here. I guess I just assumed that everyone ended up in this place like me and we were all just taken hear to perish, but I was wrong. In Garlingren ( where he was from ) the enemy decided that they no longer wanted to capture the old, sick or infants, instead they would murder them in front of the young to toughen them up. What drove them to do that I am not quite sure but it cost Chris his whole family and everyone he cared about. He had his tongue cut out as he wasn't "well behaved" whilst he was forced to watch his family die. My first thought was that it was a bit of a drastic punishment for being angry or upset in such circumstances but then I thought deeper and questioned that maybe he did more to them than he was letting on.

He then asked about me. What was there to tell? I had basically lived here for the majority of my life and who I was before I came here no longer exists. I'm just the girl who lived a life up until the age of eight and has convinced herself that she has reached her end. All I could tell him about was how I was captured and how long I had been here, so I did. After that the mood was quite gloomy and I had no clue on what to say. A couple of minutes later I heard the scraping again and started to form his sentence, 'Well I guess I win then, my story was far more exciting'. Some people would've just thought it was so stupid to make jokes about these events but I just couldn't help laughing and neither could he. Suddenly, I heard what seemed to be a door opening and a deafening voice shouting 'put this on!' My door was then yanked open followed by the same happening to me. 'Be ready in 20 minuets!', the voice boomed as they trudged off. 'This is it ' I said ' there can only be one reason why, oh god.'
'Stay calm, nothing is ever as it seems' scraped Chris. Slam, scream, slate hits a floor; Chris is gone.
