Ch. 13

Months later

We stayed at that farm for several months until a section of the fence broke letting in a herd of zombies causing us to grab everything and leave. When we got out of there and somewhere we could stay temporarily we decided to head north to where the place was my scientist friend.

This is week 2 and day 1 of us walking north we should be close by now but I'm not for sure since I don't know where we are

"Let's rest here for tonight," said Mr. Jacob walking toward a gas station agreeing we followed.

It was dark and musty in there. We checked around the place to make sure no zombies were inside with us. We get out bags down resting

"Where was the last place we rested at?" Natalie asked

"Besides four times in the woods it was at a small store that we had to run from at night" I responded

"Yeah when you guys apparently hit something attracting attention," Jake said

"That was just a bad day," Becca said

"Or every zombie we say was very active that day," I said

"There had to be like 20 or something we saw that day" Dylan replied

"At least we made it out alive" we nodded

"Dylan, you want to come with me for a walk?" I asked getting up nodding we got our weapons and headed out.

There was nothing for miles until we hit a town that was beyond deserted and fenced up.

We walked on the outside of the fence while looking inside.

"Jeez this looks so destroyed," Dylan said

"It must have been one of the cities to lose control fast in the beginning" I responded looking around

"There must have been a horde or something really bad"

"Why do you say that?" I asked he pointed out a tank that was inside the fence. Walking to the fence I squinted to see it better "Wait a minute" I said before jumping the fence walking toward the tank

"Anna, what are you doing?" Dylan said hushed ignoring him I got closer to the tank looking at the outside of it.

"Property of the United States Government CDC"

"Wait then it has to be around here somewhere," I said excitedly

"What do you mean?" Dylan asked

"This is from the CDC which means they must be around here since they wouldn't send a tank far from where they are" I explained

"So what do we do?" he asked

"Go get the others and bring them here while I stay here," I said

"No we both are going back together"

"No only you because I need to stay here"

"I'm not leaving you here by yourself Anna" Dylan insisted

"Fine, I'll stay in the tank until you come back ok?" I said climbing up on it sighing he agreed and ran back to get the others while I climbed into the tank and waited.

It was about half an hour until I heard a knock a tank carefully I opened up the top looking out. Dylan and the others were standing there

"Finally you guys are here," I said getting out

"So why are we here?" Becca asked

"So this tank is from the CDC right?" I asked rhetorically

"I guess"

"So that means it should be somewhere around here?" Natalie asked I nodded

"Come on the faster we find it the faster we can rest," I said urging them. We walked down the street for several blocks until

"CDC--->"

Seeing this made me run toward where the sign was pointing

"Wait, Anna!" everyone yelled then following. I ran and ran until I came to a building that was medium height with a fence outside of it

"This is it, you guys!" I yelled back at them as they stopped to catch their breath

"Great but how do we get in?" Becca asked I walked up to the fence

"Hey, can you let us in?" I yelled while rattling the fence

"Quiet Anna there might be zombies around" my mom whispered

"Good that will make them help us" I replied still shaking the fence before it moved

"It's opened," Jake said shock rushed through me before adrenaline came in too. I rushed to the door "help there are zombies following us!" I yelled banging on the door suddenly a garage door opened up and guards flooded around us.

"Who are you and what brings you here?" One of the guards asked pointing his gun at me, my people pulled out their own weapons pointing them at the guards

"Everyone put your weapons away! We don't mean you any harm" I told him

"Then why are you here?" He asked

"Do you have a scientist in there by the name of Mac Durchany?" I asked, unfortunately, he had a helmet on so I couldn't see his face but I bet he is wondering about what I asked

"How do you know that name?"

"Let us in and I'll tell you," I said he thought for a sec before his men put down their weapons

"Follow me," he said leading us inside the building.
