Chapter 4

I could feel something or someone turn me over, and then feel my pulse, then a jerk away as if surprised or scared.  I woke with a jerk, I was startled to see a girl about my age sit back up in a chair.  I started to think, why is she here she’s normal she’s not like the others in the cages, well of course she isn’t, why was I surprised?  I looked around the room it was a boring normal room, so I decided to focuses on the other girl, she asked “Who are you?”  I wasn’t sure if I wanted to answer but I did anyway “I’m Melody.” I had a feeling I’ve never felt before, what was it.  I didn’t know, how I could not know.  The girl asked another question “Melody, just wondering why you are here?”  I don’t know why, but I said almost in a whisper “I’m here because of my dad.”  The girl gave me a kind of smile.  Then she asked another question “How do you have two hearts?”  I looked at her questioningly, that was a very personal question, so I was going to get some answers.
“May I ask who you are since I’m giving you answers?”  She shrugged and said “My name is Rose and I can answer any questions about me.”  I stared at Rose to make sure she was telling the truth “Why did you ask about my hearts?”  Rose took a deep breath and explained “I asked because I checked your pulse and it wasn’t normal human pulse and your pulse is created by 2 hearts, you would be dead if your pulse came from only one heart, you would probably have a heart attack.  But no you have 2 hearts just like me except I knew I had 2 hearts since I was born.”  I was so shocked at the end all I could do was breath “Wow.”  I was quiet from then on.  Then Rose broke the silence.  “Do you know about the abandoned home?"  I looked up and said "Just to be sure that we are talking about the same house describe it to me, and how did you know about the abandoned house?"  Rose paused then said "The abandoned house is close to an orphanage and it has really old stuff inside, the paint is chipping and pieces of wood are coming off."  I nodded and said "Ok, we are talking about the same house, and that's where I would go to be alone."  We sat in silence for a second, then I broke the silence by asking "why are you here Rose?"  She shifted uncomfortably in her seat and said “I’m here because I’m looking for people who......... went here."  To change the subject Rose asked "Did you go to any of the track meets for your school?"  I looked at her and said "Yeah, I go to all of your track meets and events I'm ether on the highest seat in the bleachers or hiding under the bleachers."  She smiled at that.  Then Rose asked "Melody, just wondering where were you born and where did you grow up?"  I started staring off into space, I didn’t know where I was born so I said "I don't know where I was born, only where I grew up, which would be that orphanage next to the old house." I saw Rose’s cheeks turn a little pink and then she asked “Melody when you came here were you with any people?"  She stood up and walked to the door to examine it closely.  I sat down in the chair she was sitting in and said "I was with my dad and his travelling assistant Clara.  Who were the people that came here that you're looking for?"
She turned to me and took a step in my direction.  Then Rose said “Well to be honest I don't really know the people just their names and relation to me, so I would just say they're friends.  But if you want to know that I could just tell that I guess, maybe you saw them?  Anyway there were 3 people that were at that abandoned house that I've followed here that can tell me who I really am and why I was being chased.  I just really came across them by accident and they don't know who I am because they've never seen me before, and they are here somewhere I know that unless the men took them somewhere else so I would come in here. Sorry I'm just rambling on now but their names are the Doctor, Melody, and Clara, but, I don't know if my sources are truthful but the Doctor is my dad so I have some questions for him.  Melody is my sister, I really want to know her and if she’s been with the Doctor or been left someone else like we have been left by our parents."  I looked at her in disbelief, hope and suspicion and said “Well, the Doctor is my dad too, Clara is his traveling assistant, and I'm your sister Melody.  I know I know it's a lot to take in your probably wondering how I look different than the girl you saw in the old house, well that's a very long story." She looked was utterly baffled, and confused, then I heard a sound behind me, it was the door. Rose spun around taking a step back, I stood up from the chair and took a step forward to the point I was next to Rose, and we saw the silhouette of three people.
We watched as 2 men stepped into the light toward us, they made us freeze in fear for a second.  We got a hold of ourselves when they took another step, one was facing me and the other Rose, what were they planning to do?  When they came into range Rose kicked one of the men’ foot out as hard as she could which sent the man sprawling onto the ground with a grunt.  Rose turned to see me kick the other man in the privates, then she looked at the man on the ground as he swept his leg out, and knocked Rose on the ground.  She tried to get up but the man she knocked down was putting his foot on her back forcing her down. She looked over to see the man I kicked shock me with a tazor, I went limp, my eyes rolling to the back of my head.  I could feel a man sling me over his shoulder.  And everything went numb and black.
