The Void (YJ)

I found myself in a void of darkness, silence, and emptiness. A few moments ago, I could remember myself jumping into a busy street to save a kid. But now, I'm stuck in the middle of nothing. I inspected my body. My blue polo shirt with white stripe, my blue jeans, my spectacles - Everything was intact. I was still wearing the same attire as I had left my house. Well, my bag is gone, but at least i still have my limbs. Wait, then where am I? Am I dead?

I shook that thought away. No, I can't die yet, not now! I have not even graduated, and get my dream job. I have not played enough, eat enough good food, fly around enough... I still want to find a girlfriend, get married, and have three kids... Most importantly, I have not told my family I love them enough... Is this really the end?

I could feel my heart beat furiously from the anxiety. Wait? My heart? It's still beating! I placed my right hand over my chest and clearly felt the palpitations. This means I'm still alive, right? My breath? I'm still breathing fine too!

I turned, or rather swing, myself around to look at my surroundings. This place I'm in... Let's just call it The Void. Because no matter where I turn to, everything looked the same... Just an endless void of nothingness. There was no sound, no sign of other life... Heck, there wasn't even any ground. I'm just floating about.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" My voice echoed throughout The Void.

No response. That was not unexpected.

"Hello? Where is this place?" Nonetheless, I tried again.

Wait a minute, what was that?

"HELLO." I tried again, this time shouting louder. Then I heard it.

"HELLO. HELLO. HELLO." I tried a few more times to confirm my suspicion, leaving a few seconds between each words. I was right.

HELLO-HELLO-HELLO-HELLO-HE*swooosh*

While my voice do echo into the distance, they would just suddenly disappear. And right before they do, there was a weird sound. Something that sounded like a suction. Whatever it was, it brought my voice somewhere else.

I took a deep breath. Well, since there is obviously no where else to go, I should just head over in that direction. 

"WOAH!" I tried taking a step forward and that was more than enough to propel me forward. I was literally flying forward.

"Woohooo~" I raised up my right hand in front of me like a superhero. It was like a childhood dream come true. I almost teared from being touched until I remember what predicament I was in.

I was in that state of motion for quite a period of time until I started to wonder if I was never going to reach the end. Just as I was about to give up and think of another solution, I saw it.

Far in the distant, there was a white dot among the emptiness.

"HELLO!" I tested yet again while still in my trajectory.

HELL-*swoosh* The sound seemed to disappear into that white dot.

I propelled myself forward like I was swimming.

  10 meters... 

5 meters...

3 meters...

I stopped myself. I was floating right in front of the mysterious dot, no bigger than a pea. It was within my arm reach now.

"Here goes nothing, Yang Jun." I whispered to myself as I approached the white dot much closer.

I slowly reached out my right hand, sticking out my index finger to touch the enigmatic dot.

*SWOOOOOOOOOOSH*

The white dot suddenly started expanding, engulfing me. A light so bright that it blinded my eyes. A sudden burst of wind from nowhere. I felt my body elevating further. I was being brought somewhere, and rather quickly. Soon, the nothingness of The Void was completely gone. The white had completely swallowed the darkness.

A strange sensation was sweeping through my body. There was a weird tingling feeling and my body felt hot and cold at the same time. 

Huh, when did I started spiraling. Wait wait, I'm getting dizzy!

But I just kept spinning in the White. I could only feel the heat enveloping me now. And I was spinning faster and faster. 

Oh. I finally realised something. I was not the one going somewhere... Rather, something was sucking me in to somewhere...

Darkness. Again.

*SWOOOOOSH*

Am I back at The Void? Hmm wait. I hear more sounds...

"Mrrrrrhmm... *sniff*" Someone was crying...

"My dear boy... Please wake up..." Wait. This Voice.

"Yang Jun... Open your eyes please... *sobs*" I know this person!

"Wake up for mum and dad..." My parents!

Slowly, I began to feel light appearing in front of my eyes. I could see 2 shadowy figures hovering in front me. As their facial features began to manifest, I felt tears welling up in my eyes.

"MUM! DAD!" I tearfully exclaimed, and reached out to hug them.

Huh!? Did my arm just went right through them?!
