Good thing was, Jade's axe was resting on the back seat and I swiftly swung it before any of Von's bullet passed through me.
"Nice dodge," Von remarked as he pointed his gun at my direction.
I was cornered. I had no choice but to tell him my identity but before I could even use my patheia, I felt something approaching our direction . . . or his.
On the other side of the empty street was Raven, aiming at Von while clutching her wounded right arm. I used that distraction to switch places with Coal, who passed out after that exchange. With a hard step on the accelerator, the car's engine revved up and I immediately swerved the steering wheel. Von lost his balance and Raven continuously shot at his direction as I drove the car away from him.
My body soared with adrenaline as I maneuvered the car toward Raven's direction. I could see Jett and Cliff's movements from the clips in front of me so I had to steer clear of their sight.
"Hurry!" sigaw ko nang makita ko si Raven.
She ran toward me and held onto the open window while the car was travelling 100 m/s. She managed to get herself inside and threw herself on the backseat.
"Curse those Reds," Raven grumbled but she couldn't wipe off the smile on her face, as if that clash had awakened her savagery.
I realized I was holding my breath for too long. Dealing with an Executive frightened the life out of me. I didn't expect him to assist Optimus.
"Go to Blackhole," Raven ordered. "We need to report this."
My brows furrowed for a second. I didn't have any idea about Blackhole. 'Yon ba ang tawag sa base ng zweites?
"Are you that scared?" she suddenly asked. Did she see my expression? "I'll drive. You're going to kill Coal with that speed. Don't worry, those Reds won't be able to chase us."
I thought I already blew my cover.
I also tended Coal's wounds and I was amazed by how he survived Von's short-range attacks. He managed to avoid getting critical hits despite his position a while ago and that was quite disturbing. Either his eyes saw the trajectory of the bullets and elude them or he was remarkably agile.
After half an hour, our speed slowed down and we entered a subdivision. She drove until we arrived at a mansion-sized residence at the southernmost direction. He was wearing a tuxedo, complementing his sophisticated features, but the Japanese sword—katana—he was holding seemed out of place.
"Coal is wounded," Raven said and the guy pointed the blade at our direction.
"It's his fault for being weak," sabi naman ng lalaki.
I suddenly felt an intense killing intent and I instinctively drew my dagger out.
"Some other time, Pitch," sabi ni Raven. "We can't have our fight today."
The scar running through his forehead cast a menacing demeanor as he stood behind the windows. I suddenly remembered him from Nightfall.
