Picture of Cara.

My phone buzzing on the table bring me out of my own thoughts as I stare at the tray of food infront of me. I pick it up and cringe when I see Cara's name flash across the screen.

"Hey baby, why you calling?" I ask worry covering my tone.

"Just wanted to speak to you. I want to go home." I hear the distress in her little voice.

"Who's picking on you?" I growl out staring around the room making sure no-one can hear me. I notice the Cullen table staring at me once more but focus on the conversation without taking my eyes off then.

"This little boy said some mean things, because we don't have a daddy." A sob breaks through her and I grip the edge of the table tightly my knuckles turning white.

"Tell the little shit to mind his own business, ignore him baby. But if he ever hits you, punch him back." I hiss though gritted teeth.

"You swore. Your angry. I'm sorry Cassie, don't be angry." She sobs. I force myself to calm down before I speak again.

"I'm not angry at you baby, I'm sorry. Just tell Miss Honey that he's being mean to you and she will help. It won't be long now till I pick you up okay and when you go shopping I'll buy you some ice cream. Just ignore the little boy okay babe?" I speak softly, my eyes drawing themselves to my history partner, our eyes meet but neither of us break the contact.

"You said it's wrong to tell, that I'd get in trouble." Her voice is confused causing me to smile a little.

"That's only to the police. Never rat to the police but a teacher? Yeah you can rat to a teacher baby. Listen, the bells gonna go soon I'll be there at exactly 3pm to pick you up okay? My last is a free so I have plenty of time. Tell Miss Honey, she will speak with his mom and dad okay baby." I push my food away and grab my bag.

"Love you Cass, see you later." I smile as she hangs up and put my phone away, grabbing my tray and leaving the room. I head to English quickly getting there. After handing the teacher my slip I find an empty seat next to Bella and take it.

"Hi again." I smile.

"Hey. You doing anything tonight?" She asks looking hopeful.

"Got to pick my sister up after school and probably do homework, you?" I watch as her eyes glaze over as she stares at Edward and who I think is Emmett as they walk into the room.

"Umm no, want to hang out?" She rips her eyes away from them and looks at me.

"Sure come to mine after school if you want, we can do homework together." I tell her.

"Okay, 6pm sound good?" I nod my head and write my address on a slip of paper and hand it to her. Soon the teacher starts the lesson and the room becomes quite. I zone her out as she talks about Macbeth and wait for the bell to ring.

Before picking Cara up I stop by the house to pick the car up so we can go shopping. I throw the helmets and my school bag in the kitchen table, grab my money and head to my sister. After parking at the curb I get out and lean against the door lighting a cigarette and scroll through Facebook on my phone. Once I've finished my fag I throw it down and stomp it out before tucking my phone in my pocket and following the small crowd of parents to the door. As soon as the door opens kids run into their parents arms all of them parting ways, I notice Miss Honey and walk up to her and see my sister clutching her hand tightly, tears in her eyes.

"What happened?" I demand once I'm in front of her.

"She won't tell me, she hasn't been happy since lunch." The teacher tells me. I crouch down to Cara and use my thumbs to wipe her tears away.

"Wanna tell me baby?" My voice is soft, calm.

"That little boy. He said some mean things about mommy and daddy." She cries falling into my open arms.

"What's his name baby? Is he still here?" The questions fall from my mouth as her teacher watches us with sad eyes.

"Nathan, he's not here now." She whispers only for me to hear. I pick her up while she buries her head into my neck.

"A boy called Nathan, our father passed away when Cara was young and he's been making fun of her for not having one, and with our mom working away he's also said some nasty things about that as well." I tell Miss Honey.

"I'll call a meeting with his parents tomorrow for after school, is also like you to attend seeing as while your mother is away at work your her carer." I nod my head before turning towards my car and get us both in.

"Let's go get some shopping done, I have a friend coming over to do some homework later okay?" I smile at her as I begin to drive.

"I've got two friends. A girl call Mary and her brother called Josh. Their really funny and Mary said she wants my hair because it's really pretty and long." She gueshes as I pull into the parking lot.

"That's great baby! I knew you'd make some friends today." I help her out of the car before locking it and grabbing a shopping cart.

"What's your friend like?" She asks grabbing a loaf of bread.

"Her names Bella, she's alright. Shy though." I smile and continue shopping. By the time we get home it's half 5 meaning Bella will be here soon. I quickly unload all of the shopping and throw a quick meal together. A knock on the door comes after I've just finished the pots so I wipe my hands on a towel and head to open it. On the other side stands Bella and a two boys.

"Sorry I should of called but I dint have your number. This is Jasper and Edward, hope you don't mind them coming to study with us." She quickly tells me.

"Sure, come in." I open the door wider allowing them all to come in before closing it again.
