they walked in silence till they arrived at a park with a big tree that immediately caught his attention. they stood quietly as the tree branches moved with the wind.
"this tree looks similar to the one back in busan. is this a cherry blossom tree too?" he broke the silence.
"bingo," she smiled. "i hope that when spring comes and the cherry blossoms bloom again, you and i will be looking at the cherry blossom tree. you from busan, me at somewhere else. different locations, but same feelings." she gazed at him.
he looked at her, full of love. throughout all the years they had been together, he had developed feelings for her. but he doesn't know, whether she felt the same thing. he lost the letter, along with the courage to confess to her.
"thank you, for everything." he whispered.
"why are you thanking me? i should be thanking you, for always staying by my side." she chuckled.
he slowly leaned down, and saw her closing her eyes. he smiled, as this meant that she was ready too. he placed his lips on her soft ones. he left it there for a while, before letting go.
he felt all the coldness replaced with the warmth of her lips, and hoped that she felt the same too.
"i'm sure gonna miss you," she said, hugging him. he hugged her back tightly.
after for what seemed like years, they both let go.
"if fate were to bring us together again in the next few years, i'm sure we're gonna be together." he held her hand and smiled at the familiar words.
"hopefully... we will." a tear escaped her eyes.
"why are we such an emotional mess? don't worry, i'm sure fate will bring us together again one day." he softly laughed.
she wiped that tear off her cheek and laughed along with him. "you're right, i'm such a crybaby. let's get you to my house and sleep. i feel like my eyes are gonna close any second."
"but how about your parents?"
"silly, i won't be asking you to come here if my parents were here. they're both at gangnam now for a business meeting. they'll come back tomorrow afternoon."
"guess i'll be taking the earliest train ride tomorrow then," he spoke.
will we ever meet again?
❊
they woke up before the sun rose and hurriedly made their way to the station. he quickly paid for the tickets and waited for the train with her.
when the train arrived, he faced her. "well, guess it's time to go."
"we'll see each other one day, i'm sure!"
"if that's really gonna happen..." he stepped into the empty train and faced her, watching the door close slowly.
"i'll find you!" he cried through the door which sounded muffled.
the train started moving, and they gazed at each other for a long time.
when they were no longer able to see each other, he sat down on a seat, devastated.
there were still so many things he had wanted to tell her... but he had no time, and had lost the chance.
she stared at the train as it disappeared from her sight. she took out an envelope from her pocket, and sighed.
"i really love you taehyung... but i have to let go." her hands were shaking along with the envelope.
"i had liked you since the start but i had no confidence to say it out loud. i wanted to give this letter with all my feelings to you. but i'm scared, scared that you would not accept my feelings. i'm sorry taehyung. i hope life will treat you well." she said to herself, and walked away from the station, head down.
