"Now class, today we will be diving into the world of politics, " Mr. Dunn's voice filled the student filled classroom. At the word politics I instantly became that much less intrigued. I hate politics, I know I shouldn't because I'm a citizen and the right to vote, and have an opinion about these things but it bores me.
I slide my earphones in and decide to zone out for this portion of the lesson. The song ' Feels like home' hums in my ear, listening to the lyrics my mind floats back to Aleah. She's currently back at home laying on our expensive sofa. My mother, as much as I pleaded, wouldn't allow me to lay out of school. Which only made my mood take an even bigger dive into the dump.
"Rilan! " I hardly hear through the music.
Dropping the ear bud, my face turns a bright shade of pink when I notice everyone is staring obviously in my direction. "Yes?" I say trying my best to not come off intimidated.
"I asked you, If you were about to be eighteen? " He said his well shaped eyebrows raising.
"Uh, yeah, " I say, a little unsure how this was relevant. This was the first conversation i've had with him since the, incident in the car. His voice just saying my name made my whole body shiver, even if it was in front of a lot of my senior class.
"All right, so Obama or Romney?" He asked tapping his foot impatiently.
"Um. Honestly, I don't know? " I say looking down. A few classmates snickered at my response, which angered me. I'm sorry did I ask for your opinion? I couldnt help but laugh at the back and forth that was taking place inside of my mind.
Mr. Dunn nodded his head in disappointment. "Wow, I expected someone as bright as you to actually have an opinion in whom is going to be running the country, " He said before calling onto Eliza Banks, who had her hair in a tight bun and a T-shirt on that made her muffin top stand out all the more.
"Personally Sir, I think Romney deserves to win, " She states proudly.
"Care to elaborate? " Dunn asks her his eyes showing his curiosity.
"Well, Romney knows how to do things better then Obama. Clearly after four years in office he should have done a better job. Our country in in turmoil and he's not doing anything but sit on his ass. " She states flashing a huge smile, which I took note to how much it reminded me of a horses teeth.
" But, He's for abortion! " Shouts another voice from somewhere behind me.
"So Is Obama!" Another retaliates.
My eyes train back on Mr. Dunn he was sitting on his desk a smirk visible on his face, he was clearly amused at the heated discussion he'd created.
"What about that health care thing Obama is starting? If you ask me it's a load of shit! " A tall boy with freckles all over his face shouted.
"Oh please, " Said a male voice from right behind me. I knew this voice though its owner was the class nerd. Constantly bullied, I always felt bad for him.
"What's that Mr. Shaw? " Mr. Dunn asked stepping away from his desk.
"Well, considering the leaders, as well as the potential leaders of this country, we are all going to hell anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if we all crash and burn. Because, everyone only seems to care about the rich. " His voice grew louder towards the end, making me jump slightly at how close his voice was to my ear.
"Aaron was that necessary?" Mr. Dunn asked.
"Sure as hell was, you wanted opinions well you got 'em, " Aaron said confidently.
