A/N: I've never done anything on Wattpad before, but please vote and comment! I'd love to hear your feedback! At first, I probably won't update very much, but once I get more readers, I will try to get chapters out weekly. This is dedicated to ThatNerdyChickx because I love her stories. "I can't believe you, Anna Belle," she said. "We were best friends. How could you do this to us?" She shook her head, tears in her eyes.
"Luna, you know that wasn't my intention. We go to different schools now. Won't you forgive me?" I said, falling to my knees.
Luna looked at me sadly. "Never, Anna, never," she whispered. Then she vanished, leaving behind the echo of her words.
I woke up suddenly, shivering in the early April cold. My sheets were on the floor. I heaved myself out of bed and pulled my window shut. "Why did I even open that in the first place?" I scolded myself while making my bed. I remembered the dream. It hadn't occurred in a few months.
Shaking these thoughts from my head, I got ready for school, changing into white shorts and a purple and white striped V-neck tee. I picked up "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," my favorite book ever, from my bookcase and made for the kitchen.
My mom was standing at the counter, slicing a bagel. She looked up and smiled when I walked in. "Yum, is that bagel for me?" I asked eagerly.
"Well, good morning to you too," she replied sarcastically.
"Sorry... Good morning," I mumbled. "But seriously, is that for me?" she rolled her eyes.
"Yes," Mom sighed. I grinned and grabbed an everything bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese.
"What about second breakfast and elevenses?" I joked.
"You're not a hobbit, but you eat just as much as one. Maybe I'll send you some tea for elevenses," Mom said, tapping her chin.
"Mom, I was joking. You're such a geek!"
"Excuse me, you are a much bigger geek than me, Anna Belle Messo. You had a Star Wars party with your friends on May the Fourth," she said, shaking her head. I looked away quickly.
"Please don't talk about Luna and Jackie," I pleaded. Mom looked at me oddly. I quickly put on a fake smile. "And that was, like, two years ago," I said, rolling my eyes. "I was in seventh grade."
"Anyway... your brother is coming home on Friday and we're going to have a family dinner," Mom said.
"What? No, no, no... I can't do dinner with Jake Friday night. Savannah's party is then," I objected, jerking my head up.
"Well, I didn't see it on the calendar so you'll have to miss it," Mom said. I groaned.
"Can't we reschedule?" I pleaded.
"No, Jake has the regatta Saturday morning and then he has to visit his high school friends that night," she explained. Ugh, college boys are the worst. Especially arrogant jocks like my brother. I sighed. Surely I could figure something out.
I looked down and saw the time on my watch. 7:57. "Shit, I gotta run, I'm late," I told Mom. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and hurried to the door.
"Language!" my Mom called to me. I looked back and saw her raise her eyebrow. I scoffed. Like she doesn't say worse.
I had run about a quarter of the way to school (luckily school was only a half mile from my house) when my best friend, Jenna, and her older brother, Max, pulled up beside me. Quickly, I took a took a deep breath and put my game face on. I slowed to a stop when Max rolled down his window and smiled wide at me. I melted inside a little bit. He he had such a sweet smile. And don't get me started on his hair. It was kind of an unruly mess, but still amazing. Brown hair is the best...
I mentally slapped myself - he was my best friends older brother!
"Hey Jenna, Max," I said cooly.
"Need a ride?" Jenna asked.
"Yeah, that'd be great! Thanks..." I said cheerfully, smiling wide. I opened the door to the backseat and got in. "I was about to be late! Thanks so much," I bubbled.
"Don't worry about it, bae," Jenna said. "Are you keyed up for Savannah's party?"
I giggled girlishly, "OMG, yes... It's gonna be great! I'm so excited, but I might not be able to go because my mom's making me go to dinner with Jake that night," I said.
"Well, you can come afterwards!" Jenna trilled.
"Of course!" I gasped. We squealed happily. I could see Max rolling his eyes while driving. The jerk. This was how most of the girls he knew acted like, including his obnoxious girlfriend.
"What book is that?" Jenna asked, pointing at "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." Oops, I'd forgotten to put it back on my bookshelf before I left.
"It's one of those lame wizard books. My dad's making me read it. He's SUCH a geek!" I pretended to complain. Jenna carelessly ruffled through it, bending several pages. I cringed slightly. "Uh... please be careful," I said quietly.
Jenna gave me an odd look. "What's it to you?" she asked.
"My dad would KILL me if something happened to it," I recovered smoothly, rolling my eyes. Jenna nodded vigorously, giving me a look of sympathy. The car stopped and I suddenly looked out the window. "Ya, well, I guess we're here. Thanks again for the ride, Max!" I said, smiling flirtatiously.
"It's my pleasure, beautiful," Max said in his deep voice, winking at me. I melted inside again. We all got out of the car and I hurried into school with Jenna.
"OMG, you two were flirting. He's going to break up with Sienna soon anyway. I totally ship you two," she squealed, jumping up and down.
"Are you sure?" I whispered, biting my lip.
"Totes! Here's what you need to do. Make sure you wear something super hot to Savannah's party. He usually goes for girls that are blonde, so you and him are totally going to happen. I'll talk to him tonight," Jenna giggled. I smiled cheerfully and hugged her.
"You're the best, bae!" I squealed. "Now come on, I can't be late for class."
"You always do so well in school," Jenna said.
