I rushed downstairs, hoping I could watch a Supernatural episode before school. My Dad held out a plate with scrambled egg and I hesitantly took it. He never makes me breakfast, so I raised one eyebrow in surprise. "I have to get to work early today for a meeting," he said, and I nod.
"Well, thanks, Daddy!" I said and hopped onto the living room couch to start the next episode of Supernatural. I heard my Dad sigh behind me. Turning around quickly, I see him looking at me in annoyance.
"Really? You've been binge watching that show all weekend," he said and I laughed at his sass.
"I know, Dad, but it's not my fault there's 10 seasons. And it never gets old," I said. He rolled his eyes, but left me alone. I turned back around and continued watching. But soon, my phone vibrated in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw a message from Peter.
Can you give me a ride home after rowing today? My mom's working late
Of course, but know that's 1/2 a Supernatural episode. I am sacrificing much for you. I respond quickly.
I giggle and put my phone down to continue watching Supernatural. I quickly receive a reply.
HOLY SHIT THAT'S MY FAV SHOW EVER. WHAT SEASON ARE YOU ON?
I gasp in excitement.
Almost s3, just started a few days ago. You?
Beginning of s4. Catch up to me and we can watch on the bus ride to the regatta.
YAASSS COUNT ME IN I squeal in excitement after hitting send.
I have to rewind a few minutes because I missed it while texting Peter. Excitedly, I finish the episode and bounce out the door to my car. I shake my head, I can't believe he loves Supernatural too. As I drive to school, I blast "Carry On My Wayward Sons" because of my fangirlish mood. It ends right when I get to school and I go in with a happy smile.
Max is waiting for me by my locker. I wrap my arms around his neck and give him a kiss. But he ends it quickly. Frowning slightly, I open my locker and pull out my necessary books. He stares at me intently until he finally says, "So you and Peter are pretty close?"
My insides freeze, but I smile. "Yeah, like I said, we're rowing together at the regatta this weekend. He's pretty cool," I said calmly. Hot damn, though, Peter might be right. Did Max know that Peter had liked me? Or still did like me? Did he? It seemed like he was over it by now. I mean, he could date any girl in the school if he wanted.
"He seemed like he really likes you."
"Well, I hope so. We are rowing together," I said brightly, trying to feign oblivion.
Max exhaled and looked away, rubbing the back of his neck. "That's not what I mean," he said quietly and returned his piercing gaze back to me. I try to fake a smile, but my powers of acting are not quite with me today. People are beginning to stare. Some people sense drama like sharks sense blood.
"Look, Bella, I like you more than I've liked anyone before. I don't know, there's just something about you, but anyways, if there's something going on with you and that guy, just have enough respect for me to be up front about it," Max said, spilling out his vulnerability and making my heart clench for him.
"We're just friends, Max. Don't worry," I said softly and reached out for his hand. He nodded and I kissed him again, but this time it was different. Max was different. Like he wasn't fully there. I pulled away and walked to my next class, my stomach writhing in worry.
"Too much drama," I muttered to myself.
Heeello, just a quick update for you wonderful readers. I hope you are liking this so far. This book is ending soon, it's pretty short, but there will only be about two or three chapters more. Thanks for sticking with it.
