Question of the Chapter (QOTC): What do you think about Bella's change of personality? She is two totally different people!

Happy reading!

My first half of classes flew by. Just a normal day, but I was happy to go eat lunch. I shoved my books in my locker, fixed my hair, and confidently walked to the lunchroom. I spotted Jenna and our friend Paige in line. Smiling, I walked up to them, cutting in front of ten people.

"Hey Bella! I love your shirt," Paige said. I looked down at my shirt. It wasn't really that nice. She was probably sucking up.

"Thanks, Paige!" I giggled.

"I heard you're going on a date with Brandon," Jenna said. Paige blushed.

"Yeah, he walked me to second period and asked me out. It was so sweet," Paige exhaled happily. I fought the urge to roll my eyes.

"That's great," Jenna said.

"Yeah, we're really happy for you," I said warmly.

"Thanks, guys. When are you going to get a boyfriend, Bella? You've had so many admirers vying for your love," Paige said excitedly. I didn't know what to say to that. It was true, many guys had asked me out, but I'd rejected every single one. I had made it a rule not to date anyone I didn't like. Being friends with someone annoyingly popular was one thing, but dating a guy, kissing a guy like that would be terrible. The only boys that were cute and sweet were the nerds. I couldn't date a guy like that. That would ruin my image.

"Hey Bella!" someone called out. I turned around and saw Max waving me over. Max was the exception. He was super hot and not suffocatingly generic. Anyway, you can't stop yourself from having a crush on someone. It just happens. I would totally date him if he asked me out.

"Go on," Paige pushed me. I stopped, giving them a deer-in-headlights look. Paige and Jenna laughed, nudging me along. I shook my head and regained my composure.

"Hey Max," I said as I approached. I gracefully sat down next to him. Several girls glared at me. I smiled inwardly.

"Hey. Have you met my friends?" he asked, leaning down towards me.

I bit my lip and looked up at him. "I think I know some of them."

"That's Julia, Tess, and Ashley," he pointed out three girls. Oh, I knew Ashley. Ever since I came to high school, she had been a bitch to me. Most likely, she was jealous of the attention I had gotten, even when just a freshman. I put on an artificial smile.

"That's Joey, Wheeler, Seroja, and Jim," he pointed at the three guys sitting next to us. "And of course, I'm Max." I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, I knew that, dummy," I said, letting my facade down a little. He rose his eyebrows. Oops, how was I going to cover that one up? I just smiled.

"So, where'd you get that shirt?" Ashley asked, smiling fakely.

"Target, actually," I said boldly. She scoffed.

"You know, you should probably upgrade your wardrobe," she suggested evilly. The little bitch. Two could play this game.

"Well, I see no reason to over-dress," I laughed, pointedly looking her up and down. Max and Seroja laughed.

"That's what I like about you," Max chuckled. To my amusement, Ashley turned an unflattering shade of red and squinted at me. I let out a breath in relief.
