Good Morning, New Town

I wake up with the sun shining too much, straight into my face. I groan and roll over, willing the birds singing outside to quiet down. Eventually, I face the music and literally roll out of bed in an enormous blanket-wrapped mess.

Today is my first day at school in my new town. Because of my parents' jobs forcing them to move often, I have hardly any memories set in one town. However, the last one I lived in was nice, and we had stayed long enough for me to make friends. Just as I was actually getting settled in, though, we had to move to this place, Ylisse. What an odd name for a city... Anyway, Dad says we'll be staying here for quite a bit, so I should get comfortable. I sigh. What he doesn't seem to get is that I've been training NOT to make connections for so long, I'm not sure I can anymore.

After I get dressed in the new school's 'uniform'--what kind of uniform lets you wear anything you want as long as you wear the blazer, which is in different colors that you can choose from, anyway? Either way, from the students I've seen walking home, most people wear the suggested types of clothes.

I slip into a skirt, then change my mind and put on pants. Almost immediately, I put the skirt back on. Eventually, I just go with my first instinct and put on the skirt, hoping I would look good enough. I peer at it in the mirror. It's actually pretty nice. It's black, but with pretty gold lines swooping across it. It doesn't have pleats, which I almost find weird, but hey, I am most definitely not complaining. Not much of a pleats girl anyway. Plus, it isn't too short, so I feel a little more confident.

I go with a tan t shirt that I've always liked. It gives an element of anonymity, since it's blank, apart from the lines running their course down it. It's comfortable as anything, but it doesn't look sloppy. I pull on my navy blazer that Dad ordered a while ago and head downstairs.
