After the run in with the slightly-strange Tharja, I run as quickly as possible to the math room. Not an easy task, let me tell you, considering I didn't even get the chance to go to my locker, so my books were weighing me down, not to mention the math room is on the other side of the school. I burst into the classroom just before the teacher, sweating and panting. Scanning the room, I see there are two empty desks. I quickly grab one of the seats and slam myself into it.
"Ah... Hello." I nearly jump out of my skin when a voice speaks from the empty desk beside mine. I try not to let my mouth hang open as an extremely tall guy seemingly materializes in it. He's wearing a green blazer with yellow accents--yet another liberty given to the students--, gray pants and a white polo. He has dark hair cut relatively short and almost shut eyes. "I'm Kellam. I don't suppose you noticed me when you sat down?" He says the last part with an odd glimmer of hope.
"Uh... No. You're really fast!" I reply. He droops.
"Oh... No, I was sitting here the entire time..."
Mouth closed, Becca.
"Seriously? Well, I was in a rush... I'm Becca," I say, trying to patch it up. He nods, and the teacher begins his lesson.
At some point or another, my mind started wandering, and I started doodling. Battle plans for a video game, people, little monsters...
"Becca? Miss Becca? Please answer the question." The teacher's voice snaps me out of my blissful reverie. On the board, there's a complex question that he no doubt was explaining while I was zoned out.
"5." I almost jump at the sound of Kellam's voice again. "The answer is 5." I resist the urge to look at him.
"Um... 5?" I say. The teacher nods, almost disappointed-looking at the missed opportunity to embarrass a student. I sigh in relief, slumping a bit in my chair, and smile at the near-invisible boy beside me.
After class, I caught Kellam about to leave.
"Hey! Kellam! Wait a minute!" He turns around, looking shocked.
"Huh? You saw me?"
"Yup! I wanted to thank you! You totally saved my bacon back there!" I grin.
"No problem!" His blank face broke into a beaming smile.
"Well, at least I know that I have something to look forward to in Math!" I say, then leave the class to find my locker.
