As the man stood above me, his facial expression softened as his eyes roamed over my body. "Stand." He ordered. My body was exhausted but I daren't disobey. Despite, my body begging me not to, I stood up.

My whole body trembled and my legs gave way.

As my body hit the ground, a surge of pain rippled through my body and I whimpered. The mud I landed in splashed up, covering my body more.

The man sighed and crouched down.

"My name is Alex. I promise, I am not going to hurt you, I need to take you back to my pack house." He said soothingly, realising that I was of no threat to him or anyone. His brows furrowed in concern, genuine concern.

There was something about him.

I knew that he was a beta, I could sense it on him.

It had been a long time since I had sensed a Beta. Whenever we went to pack gatherings or balls, my father would show me how to use my senses to detect pack status. He showed me the importance of trust and told me what a beta and an Alpha should be like.

He showed me how to trust my instincts about a person.

That was how I knew that Alex was a good person and I could trust him.

His eyes went to mine as if asking for permission before wrapping an arm around my back and the other under my knees. He picked me up effortlessly and held me close.

I didn't fight against his hold.

He began walking through the woods before we came onto a clearing where there was a large mansion. Their pack house my wolf told me.

He carried me through the house and along a corridor. The entire place was pristine. The floors and walls were marble white with black trims.

When we got to the last door at the end of the hall, Alex stopped and looked at me before nodding at the door. "Please can you knock on it?" He asked.

I reached my hand out and knocked gently before hearing a deep voice, "Come in."

"Alpha, this is the rogue that we was warned about. Sound her on the south border." Alex said, resting me down on the sofa. Alex was kind, but I didn't appreciate being called a rogue. I wasn't one. I was an Alpha's daughter. Rogues took everything from me and I despised them.

After he sat me down, he left the room.

I already missed him. I looked around the room as my wolf began to feel uneasy. The room was large and was a dark navy and brown wood colour. There was a large desk in the middle of the room with a large book case covering the back wall.

My eyes then fell on the Alpha as my wolf trembled.

I flinched as Alex closed the door and looked back at it before hearing the deep voice ring through my ears. The Alpha got up and walked around his desk towards me.

I curled up on the sofa bringing my knees to my chest before wrapping my arms around them.

The Alpha wrapped a blanket around my body.

"What is your name?" he asked.

I avoided his gaze which angered him. I wanted to answer, I did but my voice wouldn't come out.

"My name is Exodus. I demand that you tell me your name." He yelled in his Alpha voice. I flinched but didn't have to submit to his Alpha voice as I had Alpha blood.

He seemed shocked, I could tell but he growled to me.

I looked over to his feet, still avoiding looking into his eyes. I bowed my head in respect which no rogue would ever do. He scoffed. "How can a rogue show respect, yet cannot even tell me their name?"

He was angry.

"Speak." He screamed. I flinched and he sighed before turning away from me.

"Why has the Moon Goddess paired me with such a weak mate?" He huffed. My ears perked as I finally rose my head from looking down at the floor. He was my mate.

My wolf had been so weak and tired, so I hadn't been able to pick up the mate senses. Once I had realised, I felt saddened.

This wasn't how I had imagined meeting my mate.

"I have mind linked Alex whom you have met. He will escort you upstairs to your new room." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

I looked back down at my feet and fell my wolf cry.

He could barely look at me. He was disappointed and I couldn't blame him.

I bowed once more before turning to the door which opened revealing Alex with a soft smile on his face. He came over and helped me to my feet.
