After three days of masking my scent, the pack warriors informed me that Alpha Exodus had arrived.

I would be lying if I said I didn't check my appearance in the mirror before he arrived at my office door. I made an effort to cover my scars so he wouldn't recognise them.

My long blonde hair which I had dyed a brunette colour like my mother's had been tied back into a slick high pony tail. I wore a thin white blouse which tucked into my tailored black trousers. I wore my stiletto's giving off professional working woman vibes.

As he got closer, I felt my wolf getting excited.

I rolled my eyes mentally at her before telling Sammy to let the Alpha in. Emmie was the name of my wolf, she unfortunately hadn't been introduced to Exodus or his wolf as she was incredibly weak at the time and could barely connect with me.

Once the door opened at Exodus walked in, the hormones hit me like a freight train. I felt myself go off balance for a moment, I steadied myself by placing my hand on the desk as I walked around the desk to greet the Alpha.

"Alpha Exodus." I said nodding before holding my hand out for him to shake.

His face looked confused and I thought I had been caught before he shook my hand. I almost screamed as I felt the sparks but he didn't feel them. "Problem, Alpha?" I asked.

He shook his head before smiling.

He seemed as if he was about to drool. "Sorry, I don't mean to stare. I just wasn't expecting the royal Alpha to be a female. I had assumed that your mate was the King and not yourself." I laughed at his nativity.

"I will not take that personally. Most people are small minded." I replied before returning to my seat. I knew that I had offended him but he had offended me first.

"Please may we start again? I feel we got off on the wrong paw."

"Sure."

"Alpha Vera. I have heard nothing but good things about you and the warriors you have in your arsenal. I have come to ask that you assist us in a threat we have against the pack."

I leant back and nodded for him to continue.

"Rogues, they have entered my pack and have attempted to kill me and other members of my pack. They have already killed two of my best pack warriors and a young pup."

I growled.

He was desperate, I could tell. Despite my issues with him, I couldn't ignore that cry for help.

"Alpha Exodus, I appreciate you coming to me for help and recognizing the importance of a situation this severe. A lot of Alpha's are too proud to ask for help until they are forced too and usually the outcome of that is much more than 3 fatalities." I said.

"Does that mean you will help us?" he asked hopeful.

He didn't seem like the same overly confident Alpha I had left three years ago. For one, he seemed paler and meeker.

"Me and my pack will assist you. We will show you how to defend yourselves properly and if and when the time comes, we will assist you in attacks if needed. I do not want to take my pack to yours unless the threat is there. What I would suggest is that you contact your pack and ask them to temporarily relocate to here. I will send a couple guards to your pack house to watch for any rogue activity in your absence. So, please call your Luna and ask them to come as soon as possible." I said hoping he would open up about his feelings towards his mate.

He pondered for a moment.

"Thank you. I will call them immediately and request they all make the journey over straight away. I will call my Beta. I haven't met my mate yet." Alpha Exodus said before pulling out his phone and ringing his beta, Alex.

I internally smiled at the thought of seeing Alex and Millie again but felt heartbroken that he lied and said he hadn't met his mate. I guess that I was right. He hadn't changed.

After Exodus hung up the phone he looked back at me beaming. He took my hand and shook it vigorously. "Thank you so much."

I tried to ignore the mate sparks as I nodded.

"Come with me, I will give you a tour." I said pulling my hand back from his.

My wolf whined at the lack of touch from our mate as I attempted not to growl at her. She was pathetic.

"I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the help."

"It isn't a problem. I have had my own problems with rogues in the past. I am happy to assist you." I said truthfully as I guided him out of my voice and down the halls into the garden.

"May I ask how you dealt with your rogue problem?" he asked, trying to keep up with my speed walking which was surprisingly not impossible in the heels I was wearing.

I stopped and turned to face him.

"I didn't. I ran." I admitted.

I should have gone after Aeron and the other rogues but truthfully I was terrified. Despite being stronger, they still murdered my parents and did awful things to me.

That part of me was still human.

I turned away, not waiting for a response or follow up questions and continued with the tour.
