Alexis tapped her fingers against her knees as she waited for the nurse to leave the hospital room. She watched her dad carefully, not sure what to think of him anymore.

It took a lot of persuading for Sherlock to let her come here alone. He was so protective over her when it came to her father. She understood completely -- her dad was a lunatic. But Alexis was 20 years old, she could take care of herself.

As soon as the man left the room, Jim turned and looked at his daughter. "I'm sure you have questions."

"Yes, actually, I do." She stood up and walked over to the side of her father's bed. "For starters, what the fuck-"

"Language, Alexis-"

"Don't interrupt me." Alexis stated flatly. She took a deep breath and tucked a curl behind her ear. "You left me for two years. I thought you were dead. When you come back and find out that I'm not your little pet anymore, you basically kidnap me." She took another deep breath and shook off her tears. He didn't deserve them. "You drugged me, tied me up-"

"It was for your own good, Lex." Jim sat up a little bit, wincing at the pain in his shoulder. "I knew you weren't going to participate. I had to take matters into my own hands."

"So you tied me up like a dog?!"

"I have to keep you safe!" Jim shut his eyes and took a deep breath. "There are people out there who want you dead, Alexis." He opened his eyes again. He looked close to tears. "You're all I have left of your mother. I know I'm not the best parent. Hell, I'm not the best person. But I swore to her I would do whatever it takes to keep you safe."

Alexis felt her heart sink a little at the mention of her mother. She looked down at her watch and turned, not wanting to look at her father. "I should go. Molly will be worried if I'm not back in time for dinner." She lied, starting to walk off.

"Lex," Jim gripped her arm and looked up at her, worry in his voice. "Come back to see me again tomorrow? I have to know you're safe..."

"I'll try." Alexis replied flatly, walking out of the hospital room and down the long hallway. She let out a shaky breath as she walked out into the crisp winter air. Her father said people wanted her dead. Why would anyone want me dead?! She thought to herself. I haven't done anything!

She held out a hand and hailed a cab, climbing in and leaning her head back. "Prufrock Coffee shop, please."
