He Lied

Assembly Bells

"If you don't pay your school fees you'll not be allowed to write your first test, in fact you'll be sent out of the school premises" Mr Ode Inde the principal of TOMS announced to the gathering of students "....pay your school fees on before? "

  "Monday" the entire assembly chorused.

  "I'm saying it now, on Monday without the teller showing your payment you will not be allowed.... " he continued with his threat but that was non of my business. Instead of listening I did something more interesting, skimming the huge black man addressing the assembly. He was dark, having an intimidating statue and a bald area in his head starting from his front head and stopping midway allowing tiny hair like structure spring out and cover the rest part of his head. His small reddish eyes coupled with his large nose that had alot (and I mean ALOT) of nose hair made him look somewhat unfriendly or maybe it was the fact that his small black lips were endlessly in motion complaining about something and everything. The most 'outstanding' feature Mr Ode Inde had was his neck, it seemed to be fused into either his shoulder or his head. Merely looking at him one would think his head was attached directly to the centre of his shoulder thereby giving him a choking appearance, however, this did not stop him from wearing a tie around his 'non existent' neck. Looking at his outfit I realized it wasn't that bad, a carton coloured suit trouser ,yellow long sleeve with his black tie and shoes to match. Surprisingly for his statue Mr Ode Inde did not possess protruding belly.

  "Is that a yes" a familiar voice said from beside me

I turned to face Fej "Huh? "

  "So you didn't hear a single word I said" he said with a hint of disappointment in his voice

   Has he been talking to me?

  "Have you been talking to me, I didn't even know you were still here I thought you'd be in class by now"

  "I told you today is my off day"
  I was confused about this off day stuff but I didn't push it

  "So am I allowed this time " he asked

  "To do what"

  "Come over"

  "No"

  "Why no, it's not like you're getting punished

  "Noooo"

  "Please I'm bored at home with no one to talk to"

  "Watch TV"

  "When I have test to prepare for,enemy of progress"

  "Then read"

  "All by myself in that lonely house? "

  "You have a nanny"

  "Yeah duh, doesn't mean she'll be there 24/7"

  "Its not my house Fej, I can't permit you to come"

  "Stand at attention for the first stanza of the National Anthem" the assembly prefect announced

  "Great, because of you I missed the announcement " I murmured

  "Not like you were listening " he replied in a whisper
