Marrying Bruce

The following night, I had dinner at the Wayne mansion. Bruce truly did impress me in almost every way. The night was casual, not at all fancy. It wasn't the first date I had imagined going on with the renowned Bruce Wayne and I loved that. I didn't see a hint of the playboy that people had talked so much about, I only saw a caring and passionate man. I almost regretted the night; I was falling so hard so fast. Though, I could never bring myself to regret that wonderful night, and I spent weeks awaiting the next one.

Bruce took me on a few more dates, some more formal than others, before he asked me officially to be his girlfriend. It is so strange that the term seems so juvenile. After only a few months I can say I've grown to love Bruce Wayne, and I full heartedly believe he loves me the same.

A wonderful year of dating Bruce has passed. I've started a local youth center to help give children that have little as much as I can. The children, although not always happy, truly brighten my days. I spend every ounce of my being trying to make them happy and give them a good life.

Tonight actually marks my one year anniversary to Bruce. He told me last night that he has a very special evening planned. I said goodnight to my employees that live at the orphanage to care for the children and started my trip to Wayne Manor. I still technically lived in my own apartment, but I do sometimes spend the night at the Manor, albeit not often. Bruce told me that Alfred would be picking me up and driving me to the manor, so I waited out front. I eventually see him pull up and smile at the old man as I get in the car.

"Hello, Alfred. How are you today?" I ask.

"Wonderful Ms. Y/N. Master Bruce has been in a wonderful mood today." I chuckle.

"Well, I would certainly hope so. Any idea what he has planned?"

"Of course I do, but I won't tell you." Alfred replied with a smirk. I roll my eyes at the old man's antics. We soon arrive at the lake down the road from the Manor. I look skeptically at Alfred as he opens my door for me and I step out. I look around and eventually see Bruce standing by the edge of the water, with a blanket at his feet.

"Hello, Y/N." He says as he wraps his arms around me and kisses my forehead.

"Hello, Bruce." I reply and kiss his jaw as we sit down on the blanket, and I see Alfred driving away. We sit and talk and eat for two hours. Truly a wonderful anniversary date; nothing but the two of us. At one point I see Bruce reach into his front pocket and pull out a small velvet box.

"Bruce Wayne, we agreed absolutely no presents!" I tell him and smack his arm. He chuckled at me and grabbed my hand in his own.

"This is a little different. I've known I loved you for a while. I've always known how I felt about you, but I just recently decided that I want to spend the rest of my life with you," Bruce opens the small velvet box and a beautiful ring lays inside. A gorgeous diamond lay in the middle, with the band twisted around it to form roses. My eyes widened as I processed where this was probably going. "Y/N, will you marry me?" he looked me in the eyes and for the first time ever, I see what I could classify as fear on Bruce's face. A smile slowly makes its way onto my face.

"Yes, yes!" I say and bring him in for a kiss. He happily kisses back and as we pull apart he slides the ring on my finger. We sit there on that blanket for several more hours, until dusk. Alfred eventually comes back with the car.

"Did everything go well, Master Bruce?" Alfred asked with a knowing smile.

"Yes, Alfred, it did." Bruce replied as he smiled at me and helped Alfred load the things back into the car. I just simply stood there and smiled at my fiancé and his best friend. They were my family now, and I couldn't wait to start my life with them.

The wedding was small, incredibly so for a Wayne. Bruce only invited his closest friends and I invited my family and a few friends from London, like Tony. It was actually the first time they had the chance to meet Bruce, but they all loved him all the same. Immediately after the wedding, I moved in with Bruce, and officially started running the youth center from home. I still visited whenever I could, but it was much more efficient this way. Bruce continued to run Wayne Enterprises, and we lived very happily. Well, at least for the first year.
