Sam Winchester was the black sheep in his family, or so he thought. Yeah, Faith was undoubtly a little too smart for her age, but she accepted the family business. Dean was just like John. It seemed to Sam that Dean was only trying to be John. He wore the same leather jacket, listened to the same music, and even talked like him sometimes. Dean, like Faith, accepted the family business as well.

In school, when Sam was asked what his family did for a living he answered, "They're mechanics. It's the family business." But, Sam knew that that answer was a lie. He knew what his father did when he dropped them off at a motel for 2-3 weeks and left Dean in charge while he went and "did his job." He knew why Dean kept a gun under his pillow and why Faith kept a machete and a silver dagger in her suitcase. He knew why everywhere they went why they put salt down at every door and window. Dean and Faith thought Sam didn't know, but he did. He knew exactly what the family business was. Hunting. But not like ordinary hunting with deer and moose and ducks. Hunting as in demons, ghosts, skinwalkers and shapeshifters. Sam didn't believe it at first, but when he read John's journal he learned everything. When Dean and Faith found out that he had read his journal they flipped out.

"What did you do? Dad's gonna kick your ass for reading that!" Dean yelled.

"What the hell, Sam? Do you even know what Dad will do when he finds out?" Faith screeched at him. He had never seen Faith yell at anyone, but this truly scared him. He didn't understand why it was such a big deal. He just wanted to know the truth.

"Is it true? Are monsters real?" Sam asked his older siblings. Dean and Faith traded soulful looks and took a seat each sitting next to Sam on both sides.

Dean started to talk first, "Okay the first thing you have to know is that we have the coolest Dad in the world."

Faith looked at him and then continued, "Yes, monsters are real. Dad fights them. It's why Dean keeps a gun under his pillow, yes, I know you were looking. It's why I have a machete and a silver dagger in my suitcase. Those are for if something comes after us when Dad's gone."

"I'm scared. What if they get Dad? If they get Dad, they could get us and if they get us, they can get me!" Sam said with urgency.

"They won't get us because they won't get Dad," Faith said.

"And if they get Dad, they won't get you because, you see, Faith's the best vampire slayer out there," Dean said proudly.

"And you see, Sammy, Dean can make no mistake when looking for a skinwalker or shapeshifter among humans," Faith implied.

"And Faith, she can exercise a demon without a book. Her latin is better than anyone I know," Dean, smiling at his sister, told his little brother.

"Dean can draw the best sigils anyone has seen in years, Sammy," Faith replied, smiling right back at Dean.

Dean continued, "You see Sammy, nobody will ever get you. You have us to protect you."

Sam wrapped his arms around Dean and Faith and said, "You guys are the best. You won't ever leave me, will you?"

Dean and Faith embraced Sam's arms and said together, "Not ever, as long as you don't leave us."

"I won't, I promise," Sam said. I won't.

20 years later

The three Winchesters had grown up into fine young adults. Dean was the middle-heighted of the three. He had short, spiky brown hair and a light tan. He had hazel eyes which resembled Mary. Faith was the shortest one of the three. She had long straight brown hair with golden eyes. She had fair skin and tanned really nice. Sam was the tallest of the three. He stood out in a crowd. He was built and had brown hair down to his ears. He had brown eyes which came from John. Sam was fair skinned and could only get burnt in the sun. The three of them were perfect hunters, until Sam decided to go his own way.
