The three of them had left the room to go look for Faith. Sam, however, wasn't exactly paying attention. Special? He thought to himself. How was he special?
"They'll be keeping her in the middle of the building and she'll definitely be protected," John stated. The sprinklers were still going; Dean assumed that most of the demons have left the building or left their vessels. The three were about to turn a corner when John skidded to a stop. "She's in there," he said. Dean looked around the corner to find two demons standing guard at the doors of a room. Azazel was nowhere in sight and the sprinklers around the room weren't on. John had pulled out an antique looking gun and said, "Stay here." He turned the corner and shot both demons. The demons started to gag as their life force was crackling to nothing. The demons were dead.
"Where the hell did you get that gun, Dad," Sam asked.
"I'll tell you once this is over," he replied. The three opened the doors to a horrifying sight. In the middle of the room, was Faith laying on a stone bed. Around her were two people. Azazel and a man in a tan trench coat and a suit with a blue tie. The man in the trench coat was holding a silver knife, unlike one John had ever seen before.
Azazel turned to face them, "Excuse me; we are in the middle of something." It had looked as if they were trying to kill each other. Dean had noticed something dripping down the side of the stone bed. Blood and it was running good.
"We'll just take Faith and leave you two alone," John replied.
"She's not going anywhere," the man replied, "She belongs to me."
"Belongs to you, she doesn't know you," Dean hissed.
"She is an angel of the Lord, therefore she is more my sister than anyone of you."
Dean and Sam stumbled backwards, "I'm sorry, a what?"
"An angel. 26 years ago, I stopped by your house and well, mixed up a little concoction of my own. Angel blood, essence, and grace."
The two brothers looked at John, "Is this what you had to tell us?"
"Among other things," he answered.
"And Sammy here has demon blood. He won't become a full range demon like his sister, but it's enough to make him a little twitchy," Azazel stated. Sam's eyes were bulging.
"You mean I'm like half-human, half-demon?"
"Yes, you, in your own way, are one of Lilith's children. And when you die, your soul will go to Hell," Azazel finished.
"So who are you, another angel?" Dean asked the trench coated man.
"I am Castiel. I am an angel of the Lord," he replied.
"Ok Castiel, do you mind? I have some business I need to take care of with Azazel here," John asked.
"Of course." John pulled out his gun and pointed it at Azazel.
"Are you really gonna kill me, John? Especially since I know how to wake your daughter up?"
"Yes, I am because seeing as how she is an angel, she can overcome anything."
Azazel tilted his head, "I wouldn't be so sure about..." He never got to finish because John had pulled the trigger on the gun. He was dead. Dean ran over to Faith and started to cry. He checked for a pulse and found that she didn't have one. She had lost too much blood. Sam and John started to cry and walked next to her. Castiel walked over and put his hand on her forehead.
All three looked up at him as he said, "I brought her back, but it'll be a while before she wakes up. Her wounds will slowly heal, but you need to give her at least 4 weeks. But please understand. She is an angel. She will find that she has powers that she didn't have before. If you need me to do anything, just pray to me and I'll come." And with that, Castiel was gone. Dean checked her pulse again to find barely a pulse.
"She's alive!" he cried. Sam and John sighed with relief. Dean picked his sister up and started for the door. When he looked down, he could tell that her gear had been soaking for three to four hours in her blood. Her blood was still slightly running, all the way through to his own hands. John and Sam followed close behind. Sam was stroking Faith's hair when John stopped both of them.
"Dean take her to the Impala, I need to talk to Sam for a minute." Dean gave Sam a soulful look and mouthed don't fight! Dean walked down the corridor towards the exit leaving John and Sam alone.
"How long have you known about me?" Sam asked.
John looked him straight in the eye, "For about four weeks."
"Is that what you meant on the message when you said I'm sorry?"
"Yes. I knew about you and your sister for four weeks. It doesn't change anything though. We'll just have to wheel through Faith's new powers and yours."
Sam frowned, "What new powers do I have? Faith I get, I mean she's a full-blown angel, but me? I'm half demon. What great power comes with that?"
John sighed, "Well, with Azazel gone, we can finally shed some light on that. But, I have to say Sam; I don't know what powers you'll have. It might be visions, super strength, telekinesis, or even levitating objects. The point is we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Faith won't be waking up for a couple of weeks so it's best to just stay put at Bobby's until this thing blows over."
Sam glanced toward the corridor Dean had walked through, "I'm pretty sure this isn't what you wanted to talk to me about. What did you want?"
John face was expressionless, "Why did you leave Sam? I know that you know what it did to Faith. Dean's just the same. You think you could walk out on us like that and expect no consequence? You're going back to school and finishing until you graduate. Then you're gonna get a job and have a wife and kids. Then you'll die and Faith and Dean will burn your bones. You wanted to get out of the life, there you go."
Sam was starting to get angry, "Don't you understand? Things are different now; I have demon blood in me. I can't just go back to school. Especially with Faith like how she is. I need to be here when she wakes up."
John looked down at his feet, "Fine, you can be here when she wakes up, but after that you're gone, do you understand?" Sam nodded; he just needed to know that Faith was all right.
