Chapter 59: The Ancient Secret

Your POV

He begins walking back towards me, I know this is it. I don't even know if I have the strength to speak anymore. He stops a few feet in front of me and stares directly at me.

Riher: "How are you still living?"

You: "*cough* I-I have to *cough cough* P-protect them." He bends down to my eye level.

Riher: "Protect who?"

You: "M-my fam*cough* f-family."

Riher: "Your family is dead."

You: "N-no...*cough cough* m-my n-new family."

RIher: "No, there someone specific, I can see that, but who is the person M/N?"

You: "K-Korra..." He tilts his head and studies me.

Riher: "The avatar?"

You: Y-yes *cough* Avatar, K-Korra." He stands back up and turns around.

Riher: "You may live. I wish to see how you fight against Kronos. Although You will almost surely lose. I would like to see what you can do." N-no. I force myself to stand against the tree. It's no use, we can't beat him unless I find a way to master the Spirits Instinct.

You: "N-no... I need to know how to get that power... And I'm not leaving until I have it!" I feel the power in my chest again. I won't leave here without having the ability to beat Kronos. I promised everybody that I would protect them. I'm not losing my family again.

Korra POV

I charge Vivian again but she stops cold and stares towards the spirit portal.

Korra: "Vivian? Is everything ok?"

Vivian: "No! M/N What Are You Doing!? He Gave You A Way Out! Why Didn't You Take It!?" What!? M/N?

Korra: "Vivian what's going on with M/N?!" She looks to me shocked and swallows.

Vivian: "I believe M/N just killed himself." What...?

Korra: "What?! What do you mean!?"

Vivian: "He just challenged the strongest being in existence to a fight when he can barely stand." Oh, god damnit M/N. Yet I can't say I'm surprised by it.

Korra: "Will this spirit kill him?" She doesn't respond. "Viv-?"

Vivian: "Yes! Alright?! He Will Kill M/N! And Most Likely Is Going To!"

Your POV

Riher: "Interesting... you still have some fight left in you. Tell me M/N, why do you stand?"

You: "Because, the strongest man stands up, no matter what." He nods.

Riher: "Ok then, let's see just how powerful you truly are." Then he disappears, I begin turning around only to be sent flying back towards the mountainside. I'm able to soften the blow with my earthbending, then I raise my arms above my head, and feel him knock me into the ground again. As I struggle to stand he lands in front of me.

You: "Damnit..."

Riher: "Well, I must say I'm impressed, you're able to at least know my attacks are coming, too bad you are not nearly fast or strong enough to stop them."

You: "I-I can't *cough* I-I can't give up..."

Riher: "Why?! Why can't you give up M/N!?"

You: "Because I Refuse To Watch Korra Die! I Refuse To Let My Family Get Hurt Again!" I stand up and feel a new surge of power.
