Hello, My name is Liam Brown. I am 17 years old and grew up in a small town known as Rosewood Pennsylvania. Rosewood is a town where everyone knows you. Even if your not part of the popular crowd everyone knows your name. I was a quiet boy, I kept to myself and stayed out of everyone's business. Until I did something that changed my life entirely.
It was the start of my junior year in high school. I was finally an upperclassman. I had the opportunity to boss around all the underclassmen, not that I would but I was able to. I didn't really have friends, I was one of those people who thought friends to be a burden. There were people that would said "Hi" to me but I just turned the other way. I was always the first in my class in the morning. I never had anyone to slow me down. I sat in the back of Mr. Johnson's English class. No one sat around me, I was all alone and I liked it.
The bell rang and class had begun. I just put my headphones in, blasted my music, and tried to fall asleep. The next thing I know I feel wind pass me. I'm naturally a curious soul, so I peaked and what do I find? Someone is sitting next to me. Right next to me. Of all the seats they choose to sit by me. Little to my knowledge he would make me miserable and happy, never at the same time. He would change my life in ways I never knew possible.
He had ash brown hair, soft brown eyes, smooth tan skin, and a smile that could melt any cold heart. Now if you couldn't tell from my description of him, I'm gay. No one knows though because I keep to myself. Instead of telling him to go sit somewhere else, I put my head back down and tried to ignore him. Then I felt a tap on my shoulder. I sat up, pulled my headphone out, and replied with a very aggressive "What".
"I'm sorry to bother you but, I don't have a pencil and was wondering if I could borrow one".
Ugh well my plan of ignoring him failed. "Sure", I said. So I reached for my backpack, pulled out a pencil and handed it to him.
"Thank you, I'm Ethan by the way"
"Liam,"
"Hey, I'm new here, I just moved from New York and I was wondering if you could show me the ropes,"
I decided to be nice and said, "Sure, give me your schedule," He handed it to me, I looked at it and realized he and I have the exact same schedule. Well it looks like I won't be getting rid of him any time soon. "Ok so, you and I have the exact same schedule. Just follow me,".
Time passes by and the next thing I know the bell for next period rang. I grab my things and head for the door then I hear,
"Liam, wait".
Damn I forgot I was supposed show him around. So I stopped in my tracks and waited for him.
"I thought you were just gonna leave," he said as he lightly grabbed my arm.
Oh what I would give for that moment to last forever. It was something I wasn't used to and I must have made a confused face because he said, "Sorry," and let go.
"No, no it's fine, it felt nice," I said and regretted because I let slip part of my biggest secret. He didn't catch it, at least if he did he didn't show it.
We started heading to our next class and he was asking me questions about Rosewood. I couldn't answer all of them mainly because this is a small town nothing really happens here.
"What do you do for fun around here," Ethan asked.
"Well I mean, there isn't much to do, I just sit in my room all day listening to music, unless I have school obviously,"
"You still just sit there and listen to music at school, I went to the bathroom and could hear your music from the stall," he laughed.
He has the most adorable laugh I have ever heard. It made me feel warm, I liked that feeling.
We went through the entire day just talking to each other about how boring Rosewood is and all the crazy things he did in New York. At lunch I asked him if he would want to come to my house after school. He said yes and for once I had a smile on my face the whole day.
The bell rang to indicate the school day was over. We packed our things and started the journey to my house. I say journey but it's a relatively short walk. I live in the neighborhood right next to the school. My neighborhood is filled with big houses, the type that little kids go to on Halloween for the big chocolate bars.
Once we got to my house Ethan's jaw dropped. My house is one of the biggest in Rosewood. It's two stories with 13 bedrooms, 20 bathrooms, a ball room, an in home theater, an olympic size swimming pool indoor and outdoor, a beautiful kitchen, butler and maid quarters, but I'm not one to brag.
"This is your house?!" Ethan exclaimed.
"Yeah, I know, shocking right," I said.
When we walked in the door my personal butler Benson greeted us and grabbed our book bags. I never stay downstairs when I get home so I just brought him straight to my room. We talked and laughed about all the things he did in New York. When he would speak I felt so drawn to him, like nothing else mattered. I never thought I would ever feel this way.
"I miss New York though," He said, "I had so many great friends and there were so many cute boys to look at,"
Wait, did he just say what I think he said? He's gay?! Should I tell him I'm gay or should I just nod and smile? Wait. If he tells me he's gay then he must trust me. In that case I'll tell him. What harm could that do.
"Hey Ethan, can I tell you something?" I asked.
"Sure," He said enthusiastically.
"You have to promise not to tell anyone, like swear on your life," Did I just say like? No that's not important this is a serious topic.
"I promise you can count on me," He smiled. Ugh there's that smile again.
Here goes nothing "I'm..... I'm....."
"Your what?"
"Um..... Never mind, forget it, it's nothing," This is harder than I thought.
"Oh come on you can tell me, please,"
"I'm gay,"
