The guardian angel sat beside Paolo as the boy ate his lunch.

The guardian angel was happy to be with the boy. He could read his emotions and he could suggest the boy's mind to think about some things.

This time, he could sense the boy's annoyance. He knew the kid's obsession to coins was not good but he couldn't suggest it out  the boy's mind.

He tried to keep the boy positive.

"At least you got better at running. Endurance!" the angel whispered to the boy's left ear.

And that's how Paolo's angel help.

********************

Paolo kept feeling a tickle on his left ear, sometimes on his right ear.

Left, right, left, left, right and with each word, he would wiggle the respective ear with his fingers.

Gradually, he wiggled his ears faster up to the point that he laughed heartily at himself.

 ********************

The guardian angel walked -- he prefers it over flight -- beside Paolo.

The boy went home with, at least, a nice mood.

He slept but his guardian angel still kept working. He provided the boy good dreams and didn't let the bed bugs bite.

After his dreams, an idea came to the angel's mind that might help his little boy -- have you ever thought of dreaming angels? It was a bit corny but angels deserve fun, too.

He decided to let time run. No one has caught time before.

Paolo was ready for school so he set off early. Let this day be full of walking.

He was just out of the house, when he saw a coin.

"Mom! I saw a coin now. What should I do?"

His Mom sighed. He could become greedy.

She felt a tingle in her ears. An idea came -- oh, a wonderful moment!

"My boy, just remember to thank God for His blessings. Stand straight, offer the coins to God and be happy."

"Ok, Mom!" Then he was gone.

Paolo was humming a happy tune, with the rhythm of his steps.

He saw a coin and picked it up.

Cool! Am I now a pick-and-run collector? Maybe I should offer this to the church.

He stood straight  and thanked God. Two times, in less than ten minutes already.

Habit would beat the awkwardness.

Ten times he found some other coins. Every time, he stood straight after bending his back and thanked God. He even tried to reach a coin without bending his knees.

His back ached a bit, also because of his bag, but at least he had an offering.

Lost coins for the lost souls, he would say.

He even put drama while he gave the coins away. What would money say if it can speak?

Since that day, the lucky boy saw a coin on the ground every day. He would run around the school for a coin. There even happened a moment, when he picked up a notebook for a classmate and absent-mindedly looked up to heaven before returning the notebook. The classmate just shrugged.

He felt good stretching his back.

At least, it doesn't hurt anymore.

"Oi, Paolo!" That was Mikaela, another classmate of his. "Don't you know coins are very dirty? Do you use alcohol?"

"Yes and no. I have wounds on my hands," said Paolo, showing the wounds on his hands.

"Yuck!" She laughed, "Nah, just joking! Oh, boy. Treat me some day, huh?"

"No problem. What would you want?"

"Oh, really? You're treating me?" The girl laughed again.

"Well, it seems you did not really want my offer. Ok, --"

"Hey! Why can't you be joked at least? Oh, please!" The girl hit Paolo in a teasing way.

"Hey, class! Look at those two. So sweet!" That came from DJ. Jokes spread quickly across the classroom. Ayiieeh!!

"EH? She's the one who asked, ok?" countered Paolo.

"Right! Do not disturb my moment. My treat is in the line." She laughed once again -- so happy.

More ayiieeh's came from the class as both of them realized their mistakes.

"OKAYDOT," she told the class then turned to Paolo, "Just do not forget my treat. No candies!"

"Ok, Mikee."

She winked and came to her friends, complaining about their reactions.

Paolo came to his set of friends.

God, is it ok to use the coins?

********************

The guardian angel watched Paolo. His plan was working. Luckily, God approved of the plan.

The boy was getting so much coins, good thing he wasn't tempted to take them for himself.

The plan was indeed corny but somehow risky. The angel hoped it would be OK.

A week passed and PE came. Paolo was eager to change his records now. He did the warm-ups successfully and the sit-and-reach. He reached his average and made it higher by three inches.

Paolo couldn't help but wonder what ha happened.

Running would come next, and Paolo was getting ready.

The coach was just speaking, ". . .right now, do not believe everything I say. Let's do some mind exercise."

"1, 2, 3 . . . LET'S GO!"

The coach jogged ahead the students while they hesitantly stayed.

"HEY! What are you all doing there?"

Pamela raised a hand. "Sir, what did you say again? I think I heard you told us not to believe everything you say, and so we're here not believing the let's go part because we believe in your mind exercise."

"What are you talking about? I just said DON'T --" The coach stopped abruptly while the students grinned.

"Gotcha, Sir," Pamela laughed.

DJ came near and offered a clap. "Nice one!" Then they clapped.

The coach grunted, "Err . . . That was unexpected.  You get additional 5 points, girl. Now, everybody, the real jogging starts. Stop laughing now. Believe me now." The coach winked and stuck out his tongue with an unmistakable meaning.

The students joined the coach in the exercise.

Paolo jogged near Pamela. "Let me say this: Nice one!" He wanted to do a high-five. When Pamela, didn't clap, he was already feeling embarrassed when Pamela spoke, "I'll do it. If you jog at a longer time than me. And stop the lame impersonation." She winked and sped away.

That's right! She is one of the athletes.
