Sanam exclaimed, "Oh wow," when Arjun parked the car in the driveway. The front yard was all decorated with a Santa and elves on a sleigh with reindeers. The complete package with the lights dangling from the top of the house surrounding all sides.
Arjun informed, "Yeah, we do go all out on all festivals." He took her hand and nudged her inside as she'd been stuck on admiring it. "You can admire later when you won't turn into a Popsicle."
She sent him a light glare for the teasing comment but was glad once they were inside the house. Warmth. Sighing, she shrugged off her coat and flipped her hair in place. She had just hung her coat when Anaya ran out to warn, "Your parents are here."
Arjun reprimands, "They're your parents too, cricket."
She swatted his arm, "I'm talking about her parents, bhai."
He casually fixes his statement, "Oh well, we did invite them."
"You did?" Sanam asked in surprise.
Anaya quickly butted in, "Well, just thought I'd warn you before you walk in. Good luck." She went in to join the others.
Following behind at a slow pace, he answered. "I know you'd have liked to see Esha and seeing how they wouldn't let her come by herself, yeah. I invited them. Though I'm surprised they came."
She hooked her arm with his, "Thank you. This was very sweet of you to do. It doesn't matter what happens tonight." She said aloud for both of them. She was simply glad Esha was here and that he had kept the thought in his mind to invite them even though they left no moment to let it be known how they didn't approve of him.
"Anything to put a smile on your face," he said pinching her cheeks. He wasn't blind to the fact that Esha had been her closest family. He knew what she meant to her.
Their personal conversation was put on hold as they greeted everyone: The Mehta's, Neha's parents, her own parents, Parth & his family including his parents sister and her husband, Samar, Tanisha, her parents, Rashi and her parents, and Josh.
Yes, one too many people were gathered in the house but the house was certainly big enough to accommodate everyone. Everyone soon broke out into smaller groups with the elder males in one area, females in the other, and youngsters on their own.
Arjun instantly asked after the initial greetings, "Where's Drake?"
"His girlfriend dragged him to meet her parents." Josh informed.
"Ouch." Rahul winced.
Neha swatted his leg, "Be a little bit more supportive."
Parth shrugged, "Why? We all know they're not going to last. He's been talking about breaking up with her for months now."
Sanam joined the conversation, "Really?"
Parth nodded, and so did all the other boys. They really did tell each other stuff. "He just didn't want to do it with the holidays around."
Neha accepted that, "Atleast the boy's got a heart."
They all agreed breaking up over the holidays would have been tragic for his girlfriend and she'd hate him for eternity.
Geeta announced, "Alright kids, everyone in the dining room."
Sanam asked Neha, "How exactly are we going to have a dinner in the dining room with these many people?"
"Take turns." Esha replied, joining them. "All the adults already ate. It was very boring."
Ofcourse, their mother had to appear out of thin air right at the moment for a scolding. "Esha. Behave."
