Sanam walked in to the Mehta house with Esha right behind her. Esha said, "Sis, you don't have to come in to drop me off. Really, don't worry about me. I'll be fine here."
Sanam smiled softly, "I know, Eshu. I'm here to warn my in-laws about you."
Esha feigned offense at her insinuation, "Hey!"
Sanam laughed and gave her real reason. "No, seriously though, I'm here so why not stay five minutes and say hi to everyone?"
Esha approved, "Good point. They are your in-laws, after all." As they walked down the foyer and into the living room, Esha noted Parth's presence and questioned. "Do you never go home?"
Sanam elbowed her sister, "Behave." Esha waved it off for she didn't think she was asking a rude question.
Parth cheekily greeted her, "Hello to you too, Esha." Esha narrowed her eyes at him for his overly sweet tone. He turned to Sanam and gave her a quick hug in greeting.
Sanam asked, "What are you doing here? Didn't you say you had a case to prepare for?"
Before he could answer, Esha interjected her own question, "You have work during Christmas breaks?"
He answered to her first, "Unlike you, we adults don't get designated holidays, you know?" He was, after all, in last year of his law school. He did have the Christmas day off but that was after two days. Before and after, he did work - even if it were unofficially as he was having to catch up on things he couldn't cover while his semester was ongoing up until last week.
Esha didn't bicker for she knew how her 11th grade could not compare to his law school and other responsibilities.
He continued, informing both the sisters in general, "Anyway, I'm here as a babysitter."
At that, Esha did gape. "I do not need a babysitter!"
He chuckled simply to tease, "Your reputation seems to think you do, love." She opened her mouth to argue but he didn't give her a chance, "But no, seriously, Anaya has a bit of a fever but Uncle and Aunty had to go to the office Christmas party and Neha and Rahul are over at her parents' for dinner so I volunteered to stay behind incase her fever rises."
Esha gasped, fake. "Someone, pinch me. I did not think you could have a sweet side!"
He narrowed his eyes at her for mocking while Sanam scolded her again, "Esha, stop teasing him. Both of you, behave."
Parth defended, "She starts it!"
Sanam folded her arms in a condescending manner, "And are you her age or older? Who's supposed to be the mature one, huh?"
He wanted to be mad at her for a second but he knew she had a point. So, he smirked in Esha's direction. "It's so easy to rile her up though."
Sanam paused from her response when her phone beeped, a message from Arjun asking her how long it was going to take her to get back. She let out a sigh pointing between the two people. "Okay, I have to go. But, you, Esha, don't give him a hard time and you," she turned to Parth, "text us if Anaya's fever gets bad."
Parth assured her so she could go have a good time with Arjun, "I got this, Sanam. Go on. Enjoy your evening."
She nodded, taking his word, and bidding both of them, walked out of the house.
Parth purposely draped an arm over Esha's neck, standing next to her. "So, how shall we spend this fine evening, love?"
She glared at him, elbowing his side to get him to step away from her. "Are you trying to flirt with me right now? If so, let me remind you Mr. Lawyer, it's illegal."
