Sanam pushed herself into studies, working on writing papers for her classes, studying for the exams she had – one would end for one class and studying for another for another class would begin, working her hospital shifts for clinical experience, attending her classes, studying in the library afterwards with her friends.

As for Arjun, it was the normal for him as well. He'd work the regular office shifts sometimes leaving early for a morning meeting but almost always back home before 6 in the evening. If Sanam wouldn't be home and she'd have sent a text saying she was staying in the library to study so he should go ahead and eat, he'd call his friends over. They'd watch sports or go out to the basketball ring for a game, or just something so he wouldn't be by himself.

If he risked being alone, his mind would start thinking and he couldn't afford that. He knew when he'd moved back in this home city that eventually there would come a time when he'd run into Jiyah again. Still, he felt that it came too soon. He wasn't ready for that. Not that it mattered to him. He was more concerned over Sanam.

He didn't bother her as her finals were coming up in less than two weeks and the lack of time she spent at the penthouse was hint enough for him on how stressed she was. As much as he wanted to talk about the conversation they'd left mid-way at the party, he held himself back.

One day, her alarm was going off. Usually, she was up right away but it rang three times and she still hadn't turned it off. Peeking through his eyes, he read the time on the digital clock at the side table. Turning towards her end of the bed, he gently shook her, "Wake up, Sanam."

"Hmm."

He added, "It's 6:20." It took her a couple of seconds to register his voice and his words.

Her eyes flew open. "Crap." She muttered, starting to sit up but paused at Arjun leaning over when he had tried to wake her up. Momentarily, she forgot she was getting late. "Good morning." It felt something different to see him first thing in the morning.

He moved aside giving her the space to get up, "Morning."

She apologized as she pushed the duvet aside and stepped out of bed, running her fingers through her knotted hair, "Sorry you had to wake up."

He crossed his arms over looking at her amused. "No biggie. It's a sight, seeing you rattled."

She mumbled with a frown, "Sure it is," before disappearing inside the washroom. She barely had ten minutes to shower, get dressed, and leave. She figured she had no time to stop and eat breakfast or even pick something up on the way. Her shift at the hospital started at 7, and it already took a good half hour to get there from where they lived.

She talked out loud scolding herself and slipping her feet in her shoes and tying them up. She caught a sight of Arjun in the living room. She questioned as he handed her coat to her and helped put her on, "Where are you going?"

He grabbed the keys from the counter and handing a cup of coffee and a bagel in either hands, answered, "Driving you so you can eat on the way."

"What?" She had heard him but she couldn't grasp it just yet. She did just wake up only fifteen minutes ago. With no coffee in her system, her brain hadn't kicked in yet.

Behind her, he pushed her out by the shoulder. "Walk," He simply instructed and brought the cup of coffee to her lips.

As he pulled the front door open for them, she asked, "How are you so calm?"

As they waited for the elevator, he answered, "These days were sort of the norm during college days."

Arjun turned on the heater once in the car, but she still shivered and wrapped her palm around the warm cup. "Thanks, by the way." She remembered to express her gratitude as she took another sip of coffee. He didn't have to wake up and drive her just so she could eat.
