Leah’s POV

I was gazing into those golden eyes, until I was rudely interrupted. I snapped my head to the interrupter, ready to glare at him. That was, until I realized my next victim also happened to be the alpha. You could say I gave up on that idea.

“Ladies and Gentleman,” the alpha’s voice boomed, carrying across the yard. “We are gathered here today to welcome two new members to the pack.” Everyone cheered.Yay. “Leah, would you please come here.” I obliged, and was now standing next to the big man, who definitely screamed power and dominance. His dark brown hair and brown eyes seem to be the only thing normal, because in human years he would have had wrinkles and grey hair. Yet here he stands - tall, muscular, and damn scary.

“Leah, are you willing to accept this pack as your own and protect it with all you’ve got?” Ah, nothing like a good pack oath, which, in my opinion, was pretty lame. I kept that thought to myself and said firm and loud, “I do,” trying not to snicker because it just sounded like I just got married to the pack or something. With that, everyone raised their glass and cheered again.

“To the Shadow Moon Pack!” I was given a glass and I chugged it down like everyone else.

I stepped aside, ready to walk away, and turned my head to the right to see a muscular figure casually leaning against a tree. He had brown hair and light brown eyes, similar to the alpha and Mary, the alpha’s mate. I snapped out of it when he raised his glass to me with a smirk on his face, probably thinking I was checking him out.

Yeah right. I mentally added him to my list of people to avoid. Just another weirdo, you know? I gave him a small smile, turned, and briskly walked away only to hear him chuckling in the distance.

Getting as far away from him as possible, I ended up bumping into none other than Jules – who was automatically saved by Max. “Hehe, we’ve got to stop meeting like that! But anyway, CONGRATS and welcome to the pack.” she cheerfully said while pulling me into a death hug. Never underestimate the power of a petite girl.

“Jules let the girl go, you’re hurting her,” Max said, his eyes dancing with hidden laughter as he watched me try to take in oxygen.

“Oh gosh, sorry Leah.” When she let me go, I took a big breath.

“God woman, you need to control yourself. One day you’ll hurt someone – or possibly break them,” I said while getting a good distance between us. Jules just glared at me.

“Yeah, and you’ll be the first,” she said, giggling. “Come on, let’s mingle.” She linked Max and my arms together and dragged us towards the thick of the crowd.

While meeting new people, I couldn’t help but feel that someone was watching me. Every time I turned to try and see who it was, the person turned or moved away so I couldn’t spot them. I already had an idea of who it might’ve been, and tonight was going to be the night that I finally had a little chat with him and found out a few things. [insert evil laugh]

As for things wanted to talk about, I’d like to know why he always stared at me and I didn’t get the slightest bit creeped out. Also, I had this weird feeling that I needed to be close to him, and it kept getting stronger as the days passed. I was most curious though, about what Adrian Night was hiding under his dark hood and so help me I was going to find out.

I continued my rambling of ways to approach him quietly under my breath, because he didn’t seem like the friendly type, only to be interrupted…again. Okay, now I’d noticed how people tended to interrupt me when I was in the middle of something.

“That’s because you make it too easy,” snickered my lovely wolf.

What…ever,” I said, dragging out the last part.
