The party was at its end. I went downstairs and took a look around, trying to spot Lucas. I wanted to apologise to him for rejecting him before. But I couldn't find him, so I walked around indecisively until I suddenly bumped into the Irish boy.

"Hey", he said friendly, but he didn't show me his big smile, "I'm really sorry for what happened before. I shouldn't have done that, he said honestly. I suddenly remembered how he burst into the room before and nodded. I had to say that I WAS kind of relieved when he knocked because - as I knew it before - Lucas WAS pushy and I really didn't want to go any further than kissing.

"It's okay", I said, "I mean, it's not like you should do it in the future but I forgive you." "Oh THANKS", Niall said ironically and was about to turn around. I was startled and grabbed his arm to keep him from leaving.

"What's up?", I asked, "have I done anything wrong?" Niall hesitated for a moment and looked around. "No, you haven't, it's just..." "What?"

He looked at me with his blue eyes and showed me a small smile. "Do you want to go outside to talk?", he suggested. I smiled and shrugged. "Why not."

"You know, I liked you from the start, Lindsey, but I don't really get you." We sat in the pavillon in the beautiful yard of Ben's family. "What do you mean?", I wanted to know, though I was pretty sure I knew what he wanted to say. "One minute you're really cool and we talk and have fun getting to know each other... and two minutes later you are either reserved and don't talk with me or you are drunk and don't stop flirting with me - although you have a boyfriend!" I so got his point and I was impressed that he said what he wanted to say. "There's one thing I can honestly say: I didn't drink!!!", I said and it was the truth. "You didn't? So you're always like that and flirt with other boys when Lucas is not around?" Niall looked at me with a strange impression... you could say disappointed. "Nononono! I didn't mean that! I know I was different or whatever and I don't know how and why but I didn't drink anything! Except the water."

Niall looked surprised. "You didn't?", he asked again. I shook my head. "So what happened then?", he asked curiously. "I don't know. I don't take drugs or something". He smiled a little. "For your information I neither took one sip of alcohol nor did I ever take or do something illegal once in my life.", I said and it was true. "I'm impressed, but, you don't know what happened, then?" I shook my head. He was thinking for a moment. "So, you didn't, like, drink something accidentally?" I nearly laughed. "No!", I shook my head in disbelief. "Well, maybe someone gave you something on purpose without you noticing", he suggested. I thought about that and felt immediately scared. "You think so?!", I whispered and he shrugged. "Could be!" I tried to remember everything from that night. "Well, that must have been you because I didn't drink anything except the water you got me!", I mentioned. Niall chuckled. "I can tell you, I didn't, but you will find out. We will find out. I will help you finding out." He smiled his old big smile and it reached his eyes. I couldn't help smiling back. "Thank you, Niall."

Then something came to my mind. "And also, I'm sorry for not being talkative when Lucas is around... He can get very jealous and I really didn't mean it or wanted to offend you!", I said. Niall nodded. "I can understand that, but we are just friends and he will surely understand it, won't he?" I smiled. "I'm sure!"

I held my hand out and smiled at him. "Friends again?" He took it and shook it.

"Friends. Let's start it all over again."
