"Where's Lindsey?", Niall asked when he joined the group at the usual table for lunch. Neither Lucas nor Lindsey were there, which was good because he didn't need Lucas to overhear what he wanted to talk a about with Lindsey but it didn't help anything since Lindsey wasn't there either. Liam pointed at the empty seat next to him to invite Niall to sit with them. "She's probably with Lucas", Zayn said, shaking his head. He was obviously annoyed. "Lucas prepared a romantic picknick for her", he explained and rolled his eyes. Niall looked down at his feet. He liked Lindsey just as a friend, but he didn't want her to be with Lucas. He couldn't help feeling uncomfortable with him. "What up? Aren't you coming?", Harry asked and woke Niall from his thoughts. "Yeah, sure", he said and sat down next to his friends. "I just wanted to talk to her about something." "You better wait because I don't wanna know what Lucas does when you disturb them and their romantic picknick", Zayn laughed. "Noo, me neither", Niall answered, smiling. "Anyone have her number? It's actually important", he added, hoping that nobody saw him blushing. Liam pulled his phone out, looked for her number and handed it to the irish boy. "Here it is", he said and Niall typed the digits in his iPhone. "Thanks, mate!" "So, who's excited for today?", Harry asked aloud. Niall smiled, realizing that the meeting for the new band was that day. He quickly saved the number as "Lindsey" and put his phone away to join the discussion about when they should meet at Harry's place.

I was already at home when I realized that Niall didn't tell me what he wanted to ask me about. Annoyed, I opened the door and stepped in. Nobody was home since my parents both worked until the evening, so I went up to my room to start with the course work I had to do. I was just in the middle of an article for my english class when my phone beeped.

Hey. This is Niall!

I smiled, wondering how he got my number but still happy about hearing from him. I texted back immediately.

Hi! What's up? :)

Not much. What are you doing? xx

Some homework... What did you want to talk to me about?

I pressed 'Send' and stared at the question on the display until it turned black. One minute passed. Then two, three. Ten minutes. What was going on? After fifteen minutes, finally, he replied.

Something, but I can't text it. Can I come around before I have to go to Harry's?

I stared at the display, reading the two lines over and over again, wondering what could be so important he couldn't tell me except in person.

Sure, I replied simply.

At your place in ten mins!

I wasn't really able to concentrate on the article for the next ten minutes, I was too busy trying to figure out what it was about. I was a little nervous when I heard his old bike squeaking in front of my house. I ran down the stairs and opened the door. He was already standing in front of it, just about to ring. His blonde hair was messy and looked absolutely adorable when he ruffled through it, grinning helplessly. "Hey", we said at the same time and had to laugh. It was a little strange. I opened the door wider. "Come in."

I decided to show him around to relax the situation. We walked through the living room, the kitchen and then I showed him my room which was, luckily, tidied up. "I love your house", Niall said and we sat down in my room, he sat on my chair and I on my bed. "Thanks", I said, "but please spit it out!" He smiled shyly and looked on the floor. "Okay, well, I just... wanted to ask you something about your boyfriend", he started off. I raised my eyebrows in astonishment. "Lucas?", I asked, though it was obvious and he nodded. "What's with him?", I asked sharply, a little bit annoyed. He realized that I wasn't pleased with the development of the conversation, but went on. "I have to admit that I overheard something he told Ben today in school and it wasn't very... cool." I really didn't want to hear about it. I knew that it was probably just a joke or messing around or whatever. "Niall, I... I trust Lucas and if you just want to make him look bad I have to ask you to stop because I don't wanna hear about it", I said. His face looked immediately hurt when he heard my words, but he didn't give up. "I understand that, but I promise that you can trust me and I just have to tell you about it because I can't keep it to me!" I just nodded. "Well, they talked about drugs. Lucas wanted some more pills from Ben and he agreed. I just wanted you to know..." I was annoyed, but I couldn't be mad at him. He didn't dare to look in my eyes when I slowly replied: "Okay, I appreciate it but I'm sure they were just messing around! It's really not necessary to take it seriously. And, as I said, I trust him. Please don't talk about it again." Niall walked out. "Bye", he mumbled in the door, hardly audible and then I heard the squeaking brakes of his bike down the street again, just minutes later but it seemed like an hour ago.

Niall turned up way to early at Harry's place. He walked up to the door, unsure whether he should ring, but he decided he didn't want to wait alone and rang the bell. Just seconds later, the wood door opened and Harry smiled at him. "Hey, mate, you're early!" Niall half smiled and walked in. "I'm sorry, I had something to do and I didn't assume to be done so early..." Harry went into the living area of the big, comfortable house and Niall followed him. "It's okay! My parents aren't home. Do you wanna go down to the basement to wait for the others?" Niall shrugged, and followed Harry downstairs into a room which was filled with musical instruments. A drumset, some guitars, a keyboard and much technical stuff. "Whoa!!!", Niall looked around with lighted eyes. "This is amazing!"
