Dogs at the Park

Serena was walking her dog, Fen, when her small yellow pup started to pull on her leash. 'Fen?' The dog continued to pull on her pink leash. 'Fen!' Dragging Serena behind her, Fen bolted through the park, looking around wildly. She stopped suddenly, throwing her owner into the arms of a stranger.

The blonde had her head nestled into the crook of the person's neck. She stayed there for a solid minute, completely mortified of her dog's actions that lead her to this. From what she could tell, this person was a male, which made her wish the earth would swallow her up, leaving this man behind.

Eventually she unburied herself, her face burning red. She then looked at the person who had patiently stood there, while she had a mental breakdown. He was taller than her, had tan skin, wild black hair, and amber eyes. He also was grasping a leash, which had a very yellow golden retreiver on the end.

'Um.' The boy said. 'Hi. I'm Ash.'

Serena blushed harder. She looked down at Fen, who almost winked at her. Was she a wing-dog? 'Uh – well –uh – h-hi, I-I'm S-Seren-na.' She spluttered out.

'I guess your dog dragged you here huh?' He asked, and Serena shakily nodded. 'This is my dog, Chu.' He gestured to his dog, which was running around with Fen.

'That's Fen.' Serena said, managing to string a sentence together without stuttering. Although it was only two syllables, but Serena still gave herself am imaginary pat on the back.

Ash scratched the back of his neck. 'Uh. Do you wanna walk together?'

'Oh – ah – sure!' Serena said quickly.

They started walking, the dogs jumping about, and the owners talking about how they trained their dogs.

'I started learning to train dogs at a summer camp.' Serena said.

Ash looked at her in disbelief. 'I did too! I wonder if we went to the same one.'

They compared summer camps, to find that they did go to the same one, and that they went the same year.

'That's crazy!' Ash exclaimed. 'Maybe we met each other then!'

Serena's brain played back a memory from the summer camp. She was in the forest doing a task, when she was startled by some sort of animal, and she fell back into a tree, scraping her leg. Serena remembered she started to cry, as the cut stung, and because of shock. She heard rustling, and she cowered in fear, but a small boy jumped out of the bush. He had black hair, and brown eyes. Kinda like Ash... He helped her get back to the camp, but after he put his hankerchief on her leg.

'I think we –' Serena started, but was interupted by a girl with blue hair squeal at Ash.

'Hey there boyfriend!' She said, with Ash rolling his eyes only that Serena could see. 'I see you've found a friend, Chu. But you shouldn't be socializing with that kind.'

Serena already hated this girl. One thing niggled at her brain, but she pushed it down to face the bluenette. 'What? Why shouldn't dogs be able to play together?'

'Oh honey,' said the girl, 'Chu and Puff,' she gestured to her fluffy white dog, 'Are pedigrees. That thing, is a mixed of many breeds. Just imagine if they decided to mate! Those puppies would be abominations.'

'Miette, dogs can do what they want.' Ash said. He tried to move along Serena and their dogs, but Miette came with them.

She gave an evil glare to Serena. 'Ashy-kins. We're missing our date!'

Ash rolled his eyes again. 'It's not a date. We are going to lunch with friends.' He said. 'Speaking of which, Serena, do you want to come?'

'Of course!' Serena replied, while Miette fumed an angry red. She could almost see the steam coming out from the bluenette's ears.

Ash grinned. 'Thanks. Let's go.' They started walking across the park, Miette trying to get in on Ash and Serena's conversation, which annoyed them to no end. They arrived at a small pizza place.

On a table outside, there were four people. There was a boy and a smaller girl, both with light blonde hair and blue eyes, a boy with green hair, and a girl with brown hair and green eyes. They waved at Ash.

'Hey Clemont, hi Bonnie, hey Sawyer and hi there Shauna!' Ash said. They all chimed in with a hello.

The small girl, Bonnie, Serena believed, came up to her. 'Are you Ash's girlfriend? You're better than Miette.'

'This is my friend Serena.' Ash said, emphasizing the 'friend'. Bonnie looked disappointed.

Everyone said hello to the blonde, and Serena sat between Ash and Shauna. The dogs, Fen, and Chu played together, while Puff sat in the corner. Miette tried to slide closer to Ash, but the dark haired man scooted his chair closer to Serena. She was blushing quite a bit, which confused her. She had only known him for about an hour. But he had helped her once...

After the meal was finished, Ash's friends talked to Serena. They asked her questions about her past, when she received a text from her room mate, asking her where she was. She stood up to leave.

'Well thank you for inviting me, but I have to go now.' she said.

Ash stood up as well. 'I'll walk you.'

'You don't have to.' Serena said.

'You don't have to Ashy!' Miette chimed in as well.

Ash shook his head. 'It's fine. I was thinking about heading home as well.' he said. 'Chu has tired me out.' They both said goodbye to their friends, and started walking back to Serena's dorm, with Fen and Chu.

They arrived at Serena's dorm, and stood together in front of the door. Serena went to say goodbye to her new friend, when Chu and Fen, on their leashes, ran around Ash and Serena. They were tied together.

'Ah, well.' Serena said, trying to figure out a way to untie her and Ash. She could already tell she was bright red, and, when looking at Ash, he was a bit red too.

'Well, Serena, I guess it's a good time to say that, Miette is not my girlfriend, and will never be.' He looked her. 'Because I have someone else in mind.'

He leaned in, and softly kissed Serena's lips. The blonde's mind was going a mile a minute, but then it stopped, and her brain went numb. When her head started working again, the dogs had let them go.

Serena squeaked. She then gave Ash her number, and ran inside, straight to her room, where she squealed into her pillow.

Okay I fangirled really hard. I'M SORRY FOR NOT POSTING! I think this prompt is so cute. Use this prompt for other ships.
