Chapter 4••• I open my eyes again and look around the assembly room. I get up and take a the paper with my dreams meaning and sit in my section assigned. This can't be right. It's not true. It's not real. They finish my group, and move to the last. "Liam Colt- corrupted." What?!?! Two corrupts? I heave a sigh when he sits down next to me in his corrupt section. In our corrupt section. I lock eyes with my mom. She is crying for me. Then I look at Lucy, and she mouthes "I'm so sorry." She told me my result will be fine. She told me everything will be ok. Well it's not, and she was wrong. She was so wrong. I turn to Liam and he looks normal. With his dirty blonde hair and crooked grin I used to see when we were in the same class, he looks so different. They finish calling out the names and we are sent to go collect our things to move. The thing is that since my dreams were corrupted, we don't. We leave right away. Me and Liam. Liam and I.

It is now until I turn to look at him that I remember something. My dreams are corrupted, which means they will never go away. I cry escapes my throat. Liam looks up, but I look away. My dreams will never disappear, there isn't even a chance. The attendant leads us through a side door. I get a last glimpse of my mom standing with Lucy, both with tears streaming down their faces. I'll never see them again. We are led outside where a car awaits. The car takes us to the wall. The protector of the city. From what I do not know. We get in and the car starts immediately. Where do we go? Do we stay together? I've never even heard of there being two corrupts. Liam and I sit in the back seat together as the driver and the attendant sit up front.

"I'm very sorry for your poor results," the attendant says with fake empathy.

"I can tell," I throw back, "how come there are two of us."

"When you turn 14 you inhabit these dreams. Some happy, some are nightmares, but the two of you have neither. Nightmares are statistically proven to contain a link to your current life, the same goes for dreams. But the two of yours did not. They linked to the future. It may have been the smallest hint, but it told you this would be coming. Somewhere hidden in your dreams the future is presented. It endangers our society, and that is why you must leave. We haven't had people like this for 10 years. Your dreams are a sign. You both are the marked."

When we reach the wall I take a deep breath before stepping out of the car. I take my heels off and leave them in the backseat. They won't do me any good. I thank myself for wearing a tank top and shorts under my dress, and I take that off next. It's the middle of May and it's very hot. I walk to catch up to Liam and the attendant. She knocks the window of the control booth and motions for the worker to open up the gate. When they do, a shaky breath comes in and out. It's woods. Woods are on the other side of the wall, but how long do they go on for. Where do we go, who are we looking for? The attendant pushes us forward and waves.

"I'm sorry, but it has to be done." And the gates close, and Liam and I are left standing in the shadowy undergrowth of the forest. ~~I remember now. The hint that this would happen. My dream last night. At the end of the dream I came face to face with a boy. And that boy is standing right next to me.~~
