Jacob's POV:
We came home from our little outing and Ciara was knocked out from the three hour ride. I grabbed all our stuff and carried her to her apartment. When I gently laid her in the bed, I looked at my watch, it was 1:50 a.m. I need to hurry and get to the Apollo club before 2:35. Yeah I have a gig tonight, apparently I'm making a guest appearance at this club and I also have a performance to do too. I took off her sandals and covered her up until she gently grabbed my arm.
Ciara: Jacob, what time is it?
Jacob: 1:55 baby go to sleep.
Ciara: Are you coming to bed with me?
Jacob: Yeah, but I have to make a quick run but I'll be back soon I promise.
Ciara: Okay.
She was still basically asleep so she didn't interrogate me any further. I kissed her forehead, grabbed my clothes and headed to the car.
I drove to the club and changed before I got out of the car, then I headed inside. When I did, I was greeted- or should I say bombarded by all the female dancers of the club and random women.
Jacob: Hey guys I need to get to my dressing room.
Ladies: JACOB!!!
I groaned in frustration. It's going to take me forever just to get to across the room!
???: Aye! Aye! Aye! Give the man some room!
It was one of the waiters separating the screaming females for me to get through. He escorted me out and I gave him a manhug.
Jacob: Thanks man. I owe you one.
Waiter: No problem, I'm Rayon.
Jacob: Hey Rayon.
Rayon: Hey, you should probably get to your dressing room before the big boss comes out.
Jacob: Yeah, good call.
I got to my dressing room and looked on the mirror. You can see the bags already forming under my eyes. The stress is unbearable and there is so much I can take. It won't be long until I loose it, my life is an open wound. The wound that comes out of nowhere, the wound that takes forever to heal, the wound that you keep trying to erase because it bothers you that much. The wound that leaves a permanent scar because you wouldn't leave it alone, you keep picking at it thinking that it would only make it go away faster, but you're only making it worse.
I looked away from the mirror, the memories are coming back. Seeing my parents dying right in from of my eyes, I regret not doing anything. But what could I have done? I was only seven! What could a seven year old do to save his parents? I couldn't even call the police because my mother forgot her phone and that manage broke me father's. There wasn't a thing I could do but watch, and have that permanently stitched into my brain, scarring me for the rest of my life.
If there was nothing I could do, why do I feel so guilty?
---------
I had just finished my show and I was ready to head out. All I wanted to do was to get my job done and go home, to my girlfriend.
I was on my way out the building until someone blocked my way. Great god it was Angela.
Angela: Hey Jake!
Her perkiness annoys me.
Jacob: Hi Angela, I kinda wanna get home so could you mov-
Angela: Boss wants you.
Jacob: Why?
Angela: How should I know?
She shrugged her shoulders. I sighed deeply and grabbed my hand as she practically dragged me to his office. We went inside and Angela sat on Trevor's desk.
Jacob: What now?
Trevor: Woah buddy slow your roll. I just wanted to tell you something.
Jacob: Well what is it and make it quick.
Trevor puffed out smoke from his cigar.
Trevor: We need more media exposure. Jacob, you are the best male dancer in the game and Angela is the best female dancer. People like a hot scandal and to keep this business fresh, I've decided that I want you two to date.
Jacob: WHAT!?!?
I looked over at Angela and she made a shocked face. I didn't have to know Angela as long as I did to know she's a bad liar, and even worse an actor. She knew this already.
Jacob: Why?!
Trevor: People love you two enough already and you two having an affair with each other will her business booming. Dancing on stage together, having hot photo shoots together, all sexy with each other on public, they'll love it!
I rolled my eyes.
Jacob: Trevor, both you and Angela know that I have a girlfriend and I love her. I can't just leave her for a fake relationship I never ever want to have!
Trevor: You don't have to leave her. Just take a couple pictures in the public eye and you can go back to your girlfriend.
Jacob: No! I can't do this!
Trevor: Hey, I'm not asking you like it's a choice, telling you because you don't have one. Your are going to pretend to date Angela and you are going to do it so I don't have to get my boys to visit your little sweetheart. Do you understand me?
Jacob: Whatever is that all?
Trevor: Yes you may go now.
I stormed out of the room and fast walked to my car before-
Angela : JACOB WAIT!!
I slowed down but I kept walking. Next time, I'm sprinting to my car.
She caught up and touched my shoulder.
Angela: Pretty crazy right? About all this.
I stared at her as I unlocked my truck. She chuckled.
Angela: Well Trevor is very persistent and we are just going to have to make the best-
Jacob: This isn't funny Angela. I am forced to lie and cheat on my girlfriend with a woman I have no interest in.
I don't care if I hurt her feelings.
Angela: Well-
Jacob: Like I've always told you, this is strictly business. I hate this job, and as soon as I find a way out of it, I'll be gone on a flash. My unwanted social life is interfering with my personal life and I hate that I have to keep this from Ciara. Don't think that anything we are pretending to do is anything more than what it's supposed to be. I know you like me but I don't like you... that way. Sorry bye.
I got into my car without another word and drove off.
Angela can't mess this up for me.
