i will embrace you
anger
i will wear you
like a favorite pair of shoes
worn
comfortable
and
powerful.
but
i will hold you still.
21 million in NRA donations
to that
i say
BS
school shootings
are uniquely American
but also uniquely American
is being proud of that
to those people
i say
BS
17
this number won't allow for the central limit theorem
like I learned in high school
17 lives
parkland
26
i can't
count this number
on my fingers
like we would practice in elementary school.
26 lives
sandy hook
138
since December 14th, 2012
i can't
bring these people back
but
dear anger
we can seal this number
into a box
pile on heavy weights
and never allow it to grow.
anger
i will harness you
a black light
to show the people opposing gun control
just how much blood is on their hands.
the blood of 20 elementary school students
of heroic coaches and teachers
of kids
like me
going to school.
but
my anger sees
how little this matters
to some.
why is your constitutional right to own a gun
suddenly more important than
someone's right
to live?
