It had been a long time since I felt the sun against my face, I was rarely allowed outside.. he- Mason, found no interest in letting me as he claimed I could not shift but even.. trapped women, have secrets and when the time is right.. I will allow this secret to unfold and ruin all that he's built from taking what belonged to my family.. He IS the alpha by default.
"What are you doing?" I didn't want to hear that voice.. I just wanted to be able to enjoy the sun, the sound of the birds as I stood on the gravel driveway. "Not running away if that's what you think" I replied without turning to him. "You're not meant to be outside" I took a small glance at him to find no emotion in his tone or even his blue eyes. "Afraid someone might know I'm alive?" I loved to torment him and to see how impatient he was. "Now" He took a step closer. "Why would I want anyone else to have you?" He asked. "Because you know they won't follow you"
"Part is that is true" I stood a little shocked as he spoke some sort of truth. "But keeping you inside ensures me you're not doing anything stupid" And.. there it is, the things I hated, his attitude, the way he walked, the disrespect, the dishonour. "So, get inside before I ask my men to" I followed his gaze and could see his men walking up the driveway towards us, but I found myself looking back at Mason. "I'm going to tell you this once, when I get the chance to kill you, I'll make you watch them die first" I walked past and up the cream stone steps. "Painfully" I finished and walked through the doorway."How's the sun these days?" I perked up a little knowing what those words meant, I slipped away from the horse shoe shaped staircase opposite the front door and continued to walk down a long, narrow, hallway. "Aren't you a sight for sore eyes" I replied and smiled before stopping and hugging my best friend Luna.
"I could say the same about you" I pulled away as we were standing at the end off the empty hall. "I couldn't have been more happier to hear those words" A smile formed across her face.
"I have good news" She replied before we both glanced back to see if it was clear and quickly, she knocked three times on the wall just as it moved sideways just as we walked through. "I'm glad we convinced your father to build these tunnels" I smiled a bit at her words as small lights lit the way through the dull, cold and damp tunnel. "He knew it would come in handy" She finished. "What news do you have?" I asked determined to end this. "All will be explained but I need to show you something first" I caught her gas as she stole a glance with a small smile playing on her lips.Muddy steps came into sight as we drew close to the exit, one by one we walked up them as the door opened. The sun streamed through whilst the sounds of birds filled my ears, I could hear the trees swaying in the wind and I couldn't have been more happier.. I felt free but as my sight settled against the light, I couldn't believe it.. what I stood before gave me hope, something I didn't think I could ever feel again. "We managed to save his life but he was determined to see you" I could hear Luna's voice but I couldn't take my eyes from it, I began to smile and then that one word fell from my mouth. "Dad" He was standing with help from Luna's mate, Dallas. My father was barely able to put weight on his right leg but that didn't stop him from wrapping his arms around me in a hug, but he quickly pulled away as he realised something else. "Where's your mother? How is she? Is she alright?!" But I found my hope quickly disappearing "I fear.. there's not a lot of time left with her" and an uproar of heartache radiate from him, outlined with anger. "I will kill him for this, it's treason"
"That" I began in reply. "Is my job" I watched as he looked up and caught my gaze before speaking up. "I missed watching you grow up because of that traitor" He began as he stepped closer.
"To all, a woman shouldn't lead but, we, train our sons to be soldiers and our daughters to be leaders. We need a plan and one that breaks all the damn Royal rules""That, I like the sound of" Dallas spoke as he stood with us in everything. "Are you sure?" I asked as I looked over at him.
"You'll be going against everything Mason decides"
"I know who I have to stand by and that's not only just Luna but the rightful alpha.. and Queen" I smiled a little at his words with a hint of growing admiration for Dallas, I'd never felt anything like it towards any outsider. "How long?" I turned my attention to Luna as the reality of going back set in and slowly, I found the courage to speak up. "I don't know" I could see the pain in her eyes. "He likes to keep tabs on what I do"
"Either way, we need a plan and fast" Dallas began as the four of us walked towards a few trees for shelter from being seen.
"I don't have very long until he wants the bond forming" I spoke in reply as the feeling of dread grew, but I felt some sort of comfort in his next few words. "He won't harm you because he knows he won't have the full pack following him"
"He not stupid Dallas" I glanced over at him before continuing to speak. "he knows that if people know I'm alive, they'll come"
"We take him down from the inside" My father finished with little emotion showing. "No" Luna said as she stopped dead in her tracks and as we looked back we could see the determination in her face. "We take down the whole lot of the traitors, by the time we're done, he won't have the chance to force that bond" I smiled in amusement. "Then let's bite back"
