Authors note- Thank you for reading! I was really skeptical about writing this in the first place but thank you :)

I spent the rest of my night in bed crying and holding my pillows. Alaric sat in my living room on my computer probably looking through everything I have. All I could think about was poor Joanne with a man she didn't love, someone who probably took advantage of her like Alaric did to me. I wanted to leave, my house wasn't a place of comfort anymore.

"Come here." Alaric called from the living room.

To avoid finding out what would happen if I disobeyed him I followed his orders. I slowly walked towards the living room, I peaked around the corner before I walked into the room.

"Hey." He smiled at me "Cheer up."

Cheer up? How. I sat in a chair across from him and looked at my hands.

"I want you tell me more about yourself." He closed my laptop and adjusted himself.

"What do you want to know." I asked

"Tell me about your childhood." Why was he so concerned?

"I um bounced around between family members til I was 18. My mother was too high to take care of me and my father was never really around." I didn't want to give him too many details.   "I went to college for psychology but I never graduated."

"Why?" He asked

"I didn't have the money for it, so I've just been job bouncing till I find something I want to do."

"So psychology huh?"

"Yeah"

"Good you'll be a lot more comforting to conditioning these girls than me."

"Conditioning?"

"No one is really willing to drop their life to start a new one with someone that will treat them better because that's not how they see it. But when they do they're thankful and grateful unlike a lot of people." He sighed. " So you'll be perfect at showing them how life can be if they just submit to it."

I couldn't believe what he was saying. Who in their right mind thought a better way of life was being forced into a different lifestyle just for what he considers a better life? I was disgusted at the thought.

He was so relaxed when he was being nice too. Maybe if I followed along I could condition" him into seeing the wrong he is doing. I couldn't tell if that would be contradicting towards his normalcy considering to him this was his way of life but not mine. I didn't know what to think anymore.
