Chapter 11

Layla’s POV

Ian went to the wolf pack the next morning.  It was time to put our plan into action.  As he went out there I watched through his eyes, waiting until he got to the alpha so I could coach him on what he needed to say.

The alpha greeted him politely, seeming to be happy to see him again.  He asked Ian why I wasn’t with him and he fidgeted.

I taught him how to say that I’d been kidnapped again, by Derek and the alpha growled menacingly, his fur standing on end.  I told him to tell the alpha that Derek had gotten me while I was at school.

The alpha asked him when it happened and Ian gave him all the details.  The alpha was furious and began pacing.

Next I taught Ian how to tell the alpha that I was teaching him how to say something without him knowing what it meant and that it came directly from me.

The alpha was fine with this and told him to continue.

Basically, I had Ian say, “Derek is most likely going to torture me again, and I don’t want my pack rushing recklessly to save me.  I need you to keep them from doing that.”

The alpha was grim.  He told me he didn’t like the idea of me being hurt again, but he would do his best to keep my pack in line.

I had Ian thank him for me and then had Ian tell him that they would keep him informed.

I kept tabs on Ian as he did on me for the next couple days.  Jason and Jeremy were continuously communicating with nearby packs to figure out plans.  They couldn’t all seem to coordinate with each other.

Jason tried but alphas are used to being in control and four alphas trying to work together, trying to rescue me, led to constant fighting over who was right and who was wrong.  Jason was better than the rest, normally, but he was on edge due to his worry for me, so he was nearly as bad as the others.

It made me wonder how Derek was keeping the three packs helping him together.  Power must be the deciding factor there.  The other alphas were most likely going along with his plans until he had the necklace and then they would all turn on each other, the victor gaining possession of the necklace.  Too bad that Derek would never get the necklace.

Xena and I kept each other company down here in the lonely cells.  I didn’t think Derek would come back until his fun time would begin.  For a while, we played tic tac toe in the dust on the floor, but eventually we ran out of dust. Then we played rock, paper, scissors, and I spy.  It was a pretty boring cell to play I spy.  There wasn’t much to spy.

“Are they getting any closer to a plan?” Xena asked me tiredly after a rather heated round of rock, paper, scissors.

I shook my head sadly.  “They can’t seem to all get along long enough to agree on a plan,” I told her.  Ian was getting really annoyed by it.  It didn’t help that one of the packs involved was his old pack.

John was there, trying to keep his mind off things and distract him, but he could only succeed for moments at a time.

“Jeremy’s deadline is tonight,” Xena said, well hid fear barely detectable in her voice.  A slight waver that you would have to know her to detect.
