Chapter 6
After the pack meeting had ended, taking about an hour and a half, we all ended up in the living room again. We wanted to finish our movie. Well, they did. I wanted more couch time.
I curled up on the couch with Ian again, my head resting on his chest, my arm thrown across his waist and one of my legs tossed comfortably over one of his. He had an arm around me, his hand tracing light patterns on my back.
Not going to lie, I didn't finish watching the movie. Barely ten minutes after getting comfortable on the couch, I was out like a light.
I woke up the following morning in the same position, with Alice standing over us looking amused. That just gave me flashbacks to that first morning I woke up on the couch and Alice promised not to tell Jason. At least it did until I looked over and saw Jason also in the room, looking at us and shaking his head.
I smiled innocently at him and poked Ian's cheek. He twitched but didn't wake up. I poked his cheek again and his arm tightened around me, his eyes still closed. I pursed my lips and stared at him for a moment. Then I smiled devilishly and pushed him off the couch.
He started awake as he fell, yelping and trying to catch himself. The three of us all started laughing at him as he sat on the floor, rubbing his eyes and trying to recover from being so rudely awakened.
"Was that really necessary?" he groaned.
I nodded, trying to look serious. "I poked you and it didn't work. Ask Alice, she's my witness."
Alice quickly nodded her head. "She did," she told him, also trying to be serious but failing miserably. "I saw it."
Jason was doubled up in the doorway, laughing his head off, and with one look at him, I was back to laughing and so was Alice.
Then, suddenly I was falling and I let loose a little scream as I landed on the floor beside Ian, who was looking mighty proud of himself. I playfully glared at him.
"That wasn't very nice you know. I'm already awake," I informed him, trying hard to make my voice sound insulted.
"Aww," he chuckled. "Maybe I just wanted you closer to me."
I laughed and gave him a hug, deciding it was a cheesy enough line for me to forgive him. "Good morning," I said into his chest as he squeezed me tightly.
"I just came to wake you up and let you know that breakfast is ready," she told us.
I looked at Jason. "And what about you?" I asked him.
He smiled innocently. "I just came to make sure everything was decent in here."
I laughed at him. He may not be my biological father like Jeremy, but he would always be my dad. He's still very protective of me around Ian, although it's toned down a bit.
Ian stood and held out a hand to help me up. "Completely and totally decent," he assured Jason, pulling me off the ground and to his side. "But, now I'm hungry because Alice mentioned food."
I laughed as he led me by my hand to the kitchen. Nate, Lee and Xena were already at the table with plates full of food in front of them. I greeted them warmly and sat down between Xena and Ian. I grabbed a plate and piled it with sausage, eggs and bacon.
Alice and Jason also sat. Jeremy was gone, so I asked Jason where he was at.
"He's sleeping in," he replied. "He stayed up late last night. He had a lot on his mind."
I nodded. It had to be hard to find out that your best friend was a backstabbing, evil bastard. Plus, that letter was twisted and probably didn't help things. Derek obviously has some issues if he thinks they're still friends.
