I wasn't interested in stirring up the romance in my life. However, to fill in the excruciating emptiness I've felt for weeks, I made an effort to exchange letters with a commoner from our town. My mother introduced him to me without any malice, but getting to know the guy, I easily understood his intentions.
He's transparent that he likes me and I gave it a go. I doubt this will last but I still went for it.
However, Castiel wasn't very fond of the news.
"Can't you see, Fatima? I'm in love with you! I tried my best to give in to your heart's wishes... I gave my all... my whole dedicated self, but weren't those enough?" His voice was shaky. "Am I not enough?"
"I see it, Castiel," I snapped. "What are you even expecting from me? Am I required to like you?"
He looked at me for a moment, as if he had just pondered on my question, then it hit him.
He sighed to calm himself down but he still looked very hurt. I clenched my fists to keep my composure.
"I-I'm sorry... you're right." In his voice, I found defeat.
"I'm aware of everything that you do," I said in the same dismissive tone that I always use to spite him. "You just don't matter to me."
