Russetfire raged in anger. He lunged at Fennelshade, taking him by surprise. Not Ferretpaw. He drew a hard blow across his cheek.
Never, ever, hurt Ferretpaw.
Fennelshade raked his claws down his back. Russetfire bit down on his ear and pulled. He screeched in pain and Russetfire scratched his shoulder blade.
"Where did you learn your moves from?"
"I'm a strong warrior of ThunderClan. You will never understand," he roared, grabbing him by the scruff and tossing him aside like discarded prey.
Fennelshade hopped up quickly to his feet, racing across the patches of grass to face him once more. Russetfire ducked out of the way, but Fennelshade kept his focus. He pounced at him, scraping his nose and smearing his vision with blood.
Russetfire staggered to his feet, dizzy. He tripped over a tree root and fell down, hitting his chin on the branches. His leg seared with pain and quickly went numb. Fennelshade walked towards him. He planted his front paws against his. Shifting his weight forward, he slid his back paw down from his chest until Russetfire squealed in agony. His grin said it all. Today is the day Russetfire will die.
"I thought you loved me," he managed to say. Fennelshade flexed his muscles as he pressed down harder. His blue eyes shone sharply like ice.
"Why would I love anyone as filthy as you."
Russetfire shut his eyes tightly. The words he had never wanted to hear have been said. He felt sad, yes, but almost relieved.
His back paws raked Fennelshade's stomach, throwing him off slightly. Even so, it gave Russetfire enough space to escape. He slammed his paws down on his chest and kept his grip with his claws. He felt no love for this cat anymore.
"And I thought I loved you back."
He slashed his claw across Fennelshade's throat, his surprised expression plastered on his face when he died. His body disintegrated into the air, leaving no trace behind except for the fresh scent of blood.✕ ✕ ✕
Russetfire woke up in camp, his leg aching. He remembered Ferretpaw, and spotted his limp
body in the center of camp. He walked towards him, his wounds hurting his body mindfully. Russetfire pressed his nose into his fur.
"I did it," he smiled, "I'm free."✕ ✕ ✕
"Your wounds are bad, but fixable," Hollowflight rumbled, "That leg of yours may put you in the elder's den for the rest of your life, though."
Russetfire nodded. It was understandable. He had wretched it pretty badly, and he didn't feel like moving for a few days.
"That's okay," he said. At least I'm alive.
"You're strong, kiddo," Hollowflight said, smiling. Russetfire smiled back, but he knew it was all his fault. Actually, it was Fennelshade's. He wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for him. He just happened to be unlucky.
