I used my knife to cut the ropes off my wrist. (Luckily I had been wearing one of my dresses with pockets. Every dress needs pockets. I think I might even put pockets in my wedding dress. That would be cool.) Working the knife with bound hands wasn't a piece of cake. (What is this expression anyway? Is it that cake is good. Or that it's easy to make. I'm a terrible cook, so a cake is not easy to make!)

Anyway, when I finally cut myself free, I walked stealthily to the door, (I like that word. Stealthily. I'll have to use it more often.) Okay, so I stealthily (I really like that word.) went to the door and opened it a bit. No one was in sight. That was a good thing because I had no plan whatsoever on what to do if someone had been here.

I pushed the door open, cringing as it groaned loudly. (Seriously though. What's up with barn doors creaking? I know it's really cliche, but really. Have you ever opened a barn door?) I stealthily (hehe) snuck (now, that just sounds weird) out of the barn. I began to tiptoe around the barn. I knew how to get home from here, but it was getting dark. Like I said before, even I don't want to be here after dark.

I smiled seeing that there was no one to interfere with my escape. I began to walk briskly in the direction of the village. That was when I heard a shout, causing me to stop dead in my tracks.

"I'll save you, my princess!" The voice called. I looked out across the surrounding hills and saw the masked man riding a white horse. He looked like he had javelin. (I had only seen one or two jousting matches. They were interesting, but you had to travel miles to see them. Once I tried to joust with a stick and . . . let's just say pigs don't make very good horses.)

He suddenly came charging at me. My eyes went wide as I jumped out of the way. Apparently, the rider hadn't noticed the large tree directly behind me. The horse did and stopped so suddenly that it stood up on his front legs moments before he would have crashed.

The rider fell off, unintentionally throwing his javelin in the air. It came down a couple feet away from the masked man, sticking straight up out of the ground. The horse neighed loudly before galloping off.

I just stared, I mean come on, how am I supposed to react to that?

While I sat gaping at this crazy guy, someone had apparently taken the opportunity to approach me from behind. Someone grabbed my wrist. I gasped as they spun me around. It was Benjamin. Someone else ran over to the masked man, I knew it must have been this Jefferson guy I had heard so much about. (Well really all I heard was that he was late, but still, that was enough!)

"I thought you said that the girl was secure," Jefferson asked in a deep voice.

"When I left her, she was secure!" Benjamin answered.

"Well, obviously she isn't anymore!" he snapped back. He made a strange growling noise as he pulled the black-clad man to his feet. "Take her back inside and MAKE SURE she's secure!" he shouted.

Knight in shining armour? More like a fool in black cloth armour. I rolled my eyes as I found myself being pulled back inside the barn.
