"Can you stay here, Taylor?" Randy begged. It was getting late and I had to check on Meredith to make sure she was okay.
"But I have to go back now. It's getting late..." I ruffled his hair.
"Can't you, like, move here or something?" Avalon asked.
"I don't know..." I swayed my body from left to right. My mind was on Meredith but my heart was telling me to stay.
"Can we follow you to get your stuff? Then, you can stay here for as long as you are in London!" Randy brightened up.
I thought for a while although I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I nodded, grinning from ear to ear.
They cheered. We left the house to go back to my apartment which I barely stayed in. We started chatting about the differences between America and Britain. It was a conversation filled with laughter.
I had a feeling that someone was following us. I looked behind but no one was there. I shook it off and just told myself I was just being paranoid.
When we got to Cosy Rosie's, I told Hilda that I was going to stay at Avalon's place. Hilda eyed the two kids suspiciously. They did have a touch of mischief on their faces. They gave the most innocent smile which convinced Hilda to let me off. I went into my room. I saw Meredith resting on the bed.
"Hey, cutie." I went forward, petting her on her head. She woke up groggily.
Randy sneezed when he came in. Avalon pushed him outside and told him to wait there.
"What's wrong?" I was worried.
"Randy's allergic to cats."
"Oh... Are you sure it's okay for me to stay then?"
"Sure. If you keep her in the room."
I nodded in acknowledgement. I carried Meredith into her cage and told her the ride won't be long this time. She just gave me a 'meow'.
Avalon and I grabbed the bags and we made our way out.
Someone stood at the counter where Hilda was. She said something but it faded into noises because I wasn't paying attention. I was looking at him.
We stared at each other for a while before he said, "Hey."
My answer came out weak so I coughed and gave a firmer reply.
His eyes seemed reluctant to wander to Avalon. "Um, so Casper, er, wants me to tell that he, um... wants you to call him..." His last few words came out as a squeak.
I held back a laugh. He glanced back at me, bashfully.
"Just tell him to wait till the day I die," Avalon said angrily.
He nodded and his eyes never left mine. "I, er... I'm gonna, um, go now, so... er... Yeah." He mumbled something under his breath as he turned away.
"Ooo, someone's blushing!" Randy exclaimed. Then, he sneezes again.
"It's disgusting to like a friend of Casper's. Just a warning from me to you, don't fall for him because who knows, he might do the same to you." Avalon walked before me, followed by Randy.
I didn't really catch what she said at first. I was still thinking about how shy he was when he see me.

I woke up to loud noises downstairs. It wasn't Avalon's music playing. It was more like metal falling onto the ground.
I walked out to hear Avalon scolding Randy for being careless. I noticed that the kitchen was a mess.
"Oh my god, what did you guys do?" My mind went immediately to the worst thing they could have done. My voice dropped to a whisper. "Did you kill someone with those pans?"
"WHAT? NO!" the both of them chorused. I took a minute to take in the scene before me. The siblings' faces covered with spots of flour. A pan was lying on the ground. Pancake mix was spilt on the kitchen table. Egg shells were left on the table and not in the dustbin. Avalon was standing before the oven, trying to hide whatever was cooking inside. The light inside was switched on.
I smiled when I knew what they have been up to. The oven made a sharp 'DING!'. Avalon jumped in shock. Avalon grabbed a cloth and opened the oven. She squealed.
"Shit! They are burnt!" Then, she started scolding Randy for putting the tray on the very top slot of the oven.
Once her hand touched the tray, she yelped in pain. My first instinct was to go forward and ask if she was okay. I instructed her to wash her hand under the cold water for a while. I took the cloth from her and carefully pull the tray of burnt cookies out.
"They actually don't look too bad," I said, hoping that encouraged them a little. They had small smiles pasted on their faces. I told them to go sit at the table while I made the rest of the breakfast.
While I did so, I thought of how this life seemed so much better than the one I could have back at home.
I looked at the two kids pinching each other at the table and then, laughing like it was nothing. I couldn't help but smile.
This was truly what it felt to be free and at peace.
