Are My Good Looks Getting To You?

First period passed by with the blink of an eye, and Daniel and I managed to finish a good sum of the packet. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't content with impressing Daniel with my knowledge. We walked to second period together, talking about anything that popped into our minds. That's when I realized something,

"Danny?" I said, asking for his attention. He turned his head to me as we walked. I took this as a sign to keep talking.

"You're not in Mrs. Lawley's class, and neither is Dalton. Does that mean you share first period with Dalton in Mr. Greene's?" I asked him, realizing I hadn't even thought about it in class. He nodded, and I let out a little "oh".

"Speaking about Dalton," Daniel spoke, pushing his glasses up with his finger, a gesture I found adorable. "How long would you say we'd have to keep up the act?"

His words stung a bit, but I ignored the pain. I guess I was expecting there not to be a deadline. It was stupid of me.

"Just a little while, till he loses interest." I replied with a shrug. We turned the corner, heading to the biology room, and some guys shouted at me, adding a couple wolf whistles and such. I rolled my eyes, typical boys just hate shutting up. When I glanced over at Daniel, I saw a hint of irritation in his eyes. Wait, irritation? Why was he irritated?

"Did I do something wrong?" I asked him cautiously. He glanced at me, a look of surprise on his face. I guess he didn't notice I was looking at him.

"Why didn't you tell them to shut up?" His jaw was clenched. I willed my eyes to look away at his glorious face, and fortunately, they did.

"Why shut them up when they're making you look good?" I smirked, swaying my hips as I passed more staring boys.

"Because they're being disrespectful." He hissed, grabbing and yanking my arm, in order to stop me from walking like that. By doing so, he took my balance away from me as well. Almost as if it was in slow motion, I started falling onto him. He teetered for a second, but stabilized himself, grabbing my waist to stop me from falling over. For a second, I froze in surprise. My body was against his, with his arms around my waist, and I was staring into the crook of his neck. My mind was blank, and I was struggling to say something.

"You can't let them treat you like a toy." He spoke lowly, not needing to raise his voice, seeing how close we were.

"If you wanted me, you could have just said so." I winked at him and smirked as I unwillingly pulled myself out of his grip, finally composing myself, and walking ahead to second period.

The rest of the day passed by quickly, with third period being Steph's and my Starbucks date again. Daniel didn't come out and drive off with his bike during third period today, which was both a good thing, and a bad thing. As much as I want to deny it, I wanted to see him again. The seventh period bell rang, and I sprung out of my seat, practically dying to get out of school. I saw Steph standing at our usual place to meet up after school.

"Hey, how'd your day go?" She asked me. I shrugged,

"Not bad." I mumbled. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Daniel walking towards school, unlike all the other students, who were trying to leave that hellhole. Why in gods name would he be going towards school when it just ended? My curiosity got the best of me, and I turned to Steph.

"Listen, take my car home, I'll get a ride from a friend, okay?" I said to her quickly, handing her my keys. She stared at me, wide-eyed.

"But you never let me even touch your car keys." She spoke, confusion evident in her voice.

"It's nothing, now go home, cutie." I smiled at her and nudged her towards the car, her eyes glued on me in shock.

"If you so much as make a mark on her I'll kill you!" I yelled over the crowd with a cheeky smile on my face. The confusion slipped from her face for a second as she smiled at my words and waved goodbye before she disappeared into the huge crowd of students. I quickly turned on my heel, looking for Daniel from before. Going against the crowd was harder than I thought, but I fought through it. At this point, everything but the front of the school, where the parking lot was, was practically empty. For a minute or so, I walked through one of the hallways, searching for Daniel. Like usual, a few guys that I passed by stared at me. I ignored their presence and kept walking. Ten minutes passed, and I couldn't find Daniel.
