Friends... Or more?

Chapter Two

I don't know why I did it, really it's beyond me why I suddenly cared about that rude kid. "He's hot, that's why" a little voice whispered in the back of my head. A blush sprung up on my face and I covered my fav with my hands at the thought. "You are a boy, why are you dawning over this guy?!?!" I whisper shouted at myself and shook my head urging myself forget about it and resumed finger combing my messy brown hair into place. I looked at myself in approval, even I had to admit, I looked good. I had taken up a job with my father over the summer and working in the hospital is a work out! All the running around and lifting people made me slim down quickly (not that I had much weight on me) and even gain a little muscle. I wore ripped skinny jeans and a slightly tight white t-shirt on. I spritzed some cologne on and gave myself one more look over before putting on my black converse and heading out. I saw him leaning against the same swing set check his watch and then look up at me. He started walking towards me so swiftly you would think he was floating. "Dear god he is hot..." My mind confirmed as I looked him up and down trying to subtlety check him out. He wore tight white pants that practically hugged his legs and a black long-sleeved v neck. His hair hung perfectly as it had done the other day and when a wind passed from in back of him to me I caught a whiff of the most amazing cologne in had ever smelled. Too lost in checking him out I failed to realize he was talking to me until he waved a hand in front of my face. I snapped back into reality and took a step back in surprise blushing furiously at his look of annoyance. "Are you just going to gawk at me all day or can we get going?" He asked in a for the most part emotionless voice. A hint of amusement showed through his seemingly uncaring demeanor, but I ignored it and instead focused on trying to recompose myself.
"Yeah, lets go" I respond trying to keep my voice steady. We walked down the road heading into town, I noticed just then that the boy was a bit shorter than me but definitely more masculine. "Oh, by the way. What's your name?" I asked stopping and looking over at him. He paused as if shocked i even asked.
"It's Levi" he said looking up with a piercing gaze as if trying to look under my skin and into my mind. I shivered at the thought and tried to look as intimidating but the most I could muster is a look of curiosity, my wide green eyes defying me. "Come on" he said suddenly turning away and walking to town again. I stumbles trying to catch up to him and then tried to walk calmly beside him "don't kid yourself Eren, you couldn't get him..." My thoughts are screaming, and for some reason that thought sends a cold sad feeling through my chest like a knife. I look down and fend away tears that threaten to spill over at any second. I'm so distracted I don't notice Levi stop until he grabs my arm and yanks me to a stop. A yelp escapes my lips as pain shoots up my arm to my shoulder from the rough treatment.
"What's wrong?" Levi asks in a for some reason very gentle voice and slowly reached up a hand wipe away the tears that had at some point decided to make their appearance. His hand was gentle and his slender fingers deftly wiped the moisture away before coming to hold the side of my face. Heat rises to my face and I felt my heart clench at the sweetness of the moment.
"I can't say" I whisper in a voice laced with pain and sadness. His face remained stony but his eyes showed clearly the pity he felt for me.
"Why can't you say?" He says moving his hand from my face to enter twine his hand with mine. I shook from the sheer amount of pressure i had on my chest and the warm feeling that filled me. I bit my lip and looked at the ground only to have him gently tug my face up to look at him with his other hand. I was slouched over because of the sudden emotional onslaught and I saw then that our faces were level. His eyes glazed over and I saw him lean towards me slightly. My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest when I saw him slowly close his eyes and lean in. My mind went blank and I leaned in with him. As our lips are about to touch I hear him
"HEY LEVI!!" The man shouted and Levi and I jumped back in shock. A man taller than me but definitely our age came jogging toward us. I turned to Levi just in time to see the last hues of pink disappear from his cheeks and for him to put up his mask of uncaring. Before he put his mask up I saw the severe look of disappointment and slight anger flash on his face. The one thing that stayed was the look of confusion in his eyes. I took the hint and composed myself as well as I turned to the tall man. He had mad eyebrow game and short blond hair shaved in the back like Levi's, except he had no bangs. "Hey, who's this?" Then man asked in a deep alluring voice. Levi's eye twitched in annoyance and gave the man a look that could bring any person to their knee's, yet the man didn't even flinch, he just grinned obliviously as me.
"Irvin, this is Eren..." Levi said in an annoyed voice.
"Oh! You must be the new kid!" The man boomed and slapped Eren back, only to have him fall on the ground from strength. A noise that sounded close to choking came from above us. I looked up to see Levi bent over and trembling, slight gasps and giggles coming from him. He moved hand and let out great belts of laughter a smile stretched wide across his face showing off perfectly white teeth. Both Irvin and I stared in shock as his hard personality dropped and an innocent (and SO cute) expression came to his face. He stopped laughing after a few seconds and seemed to come to his senses. He looked to the side annoyed at us staring and then came over to kick Irvin in the side, effectively making him roll off of me.
"WHEN DID HE GET ON TOP OF ME!!!" I screamed in my head and fanned my face to try and get rid of my bright red face. Levi held out his hand and I took it shyly. With a surprising amount of strength he pulled me to my feet. A pained gasp escaped me as my ankle screamed in protest and I leaned heavily on my other foot.
"What's wrong?" Levi asked looking at me confused.
" I think... I think I sprained my ankle" I wheezed and shuddered as another wave or pain washed over my leg.
"Oh my! I'm so sorry... Oh... Here i'll help!" Irvin declared as he bent down and, literally, swept me off my feet. I squeaked and covered my mouth to stop myself from making any more ridiculous noises. Anger flared in Levi's eyes as Irvin picks me up princess style and settles me comfortably in his arms. If my face was red before than I just took red to a whole new level. "Oh god, oh god,
Oh god, please just don't get turned on!" I was mentally screaming. I tucked into myself and tried to hide my face in my chest.
"Was that really necessary?" Levi practically growls. I looked up shocked at his sudden anger. Was he... Jealous? But why?
"It's okay Irvin, I can walk..." I said putting a hand on his chest and pushing to try and distance myself enough so that I could look at his face. He nodded looking at Levi confused as I was by his sudden anger. He put me down gently and I thanked him quietly before shifting closer to Levi. "Well, we should get going Levi" I said trying to distract him from the silent conversation going on between him and Irvin. Understanding lot up in Irvin's eyes and he gave me a sly grin.
"Well... You two have fun" he said with humor in his voice before walking off in the opposite direction we were going.
"What in the world was that about?" I asked as Levi and I started walking towards town again.
" I'm not sure..." He muttered. We didn't say anything for the rest of the walk.
