Don't Call Me Princess

I opened the front door to my house to face my foster mother Sabrina and my two "sisters" Emily and Julie.

"Where have you been you were supposed to be home 10 minutes ago." Samantha said through her gritting teeth.

"I got held up I'm sorry I'll get started on dinner." I said apologetically with my head down. I would have been home in time but our guidance councilor found me and want to talk about my college opportunities. I adjusted my back pack and let my golden brown ombré hair fall in front of my face.

"Don't bother we are going out by the time we get back have your deep cleaning done we are going to have important clients over tomorrow." She said while grabbing her keys to her red convertible and walked out.

I let out a sigh of annoyance and then walked outside to my room. I stayed in the guest house outside. It was nice being separated from them but at the same time I just wanted to be a normal girl in a normal family.

I dropped my backpack on my bed and looked around my coral, teal, and grey room. Before my foster dad, Jeremiah, passed away we redecorated my room that was in the house these colors. Then he decorated the guest house these colors because he thought it look amazing. I lived with this family for a month before Jeremiah passed away. He was on his way home when a drunk driver crashed into him. Once he passed they blamed me and made me moved to the guest house. After that they fired their maid, chef, and butler and I was forcefully hired to do their jobs instead.

I walked back to the main house and grabbed the cleaning supplies. I started with the guest bathroom. Then I eventually moved to Samantha's, Emily's, and Julie's personal bathrooms. After I moved to the kitchen. I made myself a quick sandwich then started to clean. After the kitchen I cleaned the living room, dining room, home theater, and hallways. There were a lot of rooms in the house

As I made my way through the house I thought about Ethan. Was he really going to start coming to our school? He seemed interesting there was something about him  no one knew. I know that may sound weird, odd or creepy but it's a gift I learned from living here. How to read people is my specialty. I finished cleaning and glanced at the time. 11:43 I got up and put the supplies away and trudged to my room. I sat down on the couch in my house and took a deep breath. I looked over at my bookcase in the corner of the room and a small smirk came to my lips.

I got off the couch and headed to the bathroom. I took a quick shower and got dressed in shorts and a tank top. I laid on my bed and started my homework with my ear buds in. And eventually drifted off to sleep.

I woke up with my blaring alarm clock going off. I rolled on top of it to muffle the sound of it. Once I forced myself awake I sat up and turned off the alarm. 5:46 I rubbed my eyes then headed to the bathroom. Another bonus I don't have to share a bathroom with them. I pulled my hair into a fishtail braid and had some hair in the front to frame my face. I grab a pair of jeans with a thin crimson hoodie and brown boots. Another bonus living here I get their clothes they don't consider worthy of them. Whatever that means. But I rarely buy clothes because the money I get from work I save. We were just coming into September so it was still pretty warm.

I walked out of my room to my kitchen and grabbed a banana then sat out front of the main house and pulled out my book while I waited for Zoey. She would always come pick me up at 6:15 so I wouldn't have to walk to school. I would have a car by now if I wanted but I just keep saving my money to move out and go to college. I work as an intern at the physical therapist and I stay after and clean. Then I also work as a dance teachers assistant with young kids. And I am a waitress. I have been doing this since a month after Jeremiah died. It was my only escape and this way she knew I couldn't do anything else. Another negative is I go to school, work, chores, then bed. Absolutely no social life.

"Hey do you need a ride or are you waiting for someone?" I heard a rough but slightly familiar voice ask.

"My friend is coming to get me." I said looking up trying to see who was in the black car. It was new not one that's around this town. I keep trying to remember who this is but it's not clicking.

"Oh hey Cinderella nice seeing you again." Ethan. Crap.

"Dawn actually please don't call me that." I try and plead.

"Okay I won't princess where's your friend." I sighed I was far from a princess. "Call her and tell her you got a ride I'll take you."

"Can I see your phone then." I state a little embarrassed.

"Sure you don't have a phone."

"No I don't. Thanks though."

I made a quick phone call and gave him back his phone. I opened the car expecting it to be a mess but ending up surprised. It was clean and actually smelled really good.

"Nice car"

"Thanks princess so why does your friend call you Cinderella.

"Don't call me princess and that's none of your business."

"Oh come on princess I'm giving you a ride  you can tell me something about you please." He pleading ignore my earlier comment about not calling me princess.

"I like running."

"Sweet but I mean like who are you what makes you you."

"Running. But I also like helping people."

"That's nice I guess I've never liked running so I don't see you joy there."

"It's hard to explain, what about you what make you you."

"Acting and singing."

"I guess I should have known that based on your status."

"How is it I am Hollywood's heartthrob America's golden boy. Everyone knows who I am but you didn't even know who I was."

"Life's funny that way isn't it. And do people actually know you or just what they see." He didn't reply as we pulled up to he school. "Thank you see you later."

"Wanna hang after school?" He asks with a look I've never seen on his face.

"Can't work sorry" I said and walked off.
