She was dreaming about him! Edward was overjoyed, he just sat there starring at her for the rest of the night. Alice and I gave him some privacy and left him alone after that. We were so happy he knew he could no longer avoid her, we were going to have her as a part of the family sometime, Alice and I were going to get that friendship that we had been craving ever since we first saw it!

Edward arrived back early in the morning, apparently Charlie was an early riser and he didn't want to get caught in the room of the chief of police's daughter without her knowing it. He came back smiling, of course Alice and I had already told everyone what had happened, Esme was nearly as happy as us about it. She had always been worried that Carlisle had changed him too young and that he was lonely, but now that he had Bella she was thrilled.

We drove to school silently, there were a mixture of emotions in the car. Rosalie was still angry at Edward for putting us all in danger but there was something else, there was another reason that I couldn't quite put my finger on and she was doing a good job at hiding it in her thoughts. Jasper was worried about what might happen but because Alice was so elated about it he didn't really mind. Emmett was hardly even thinking about it, but he was happy that Edward was actually doing something about it.

Edward decided that he was going to talk to her and he didn't want us listening in so he sent us to lessons. I grudgingly did what he asked but I didn't give him any privacy, neither did Alice we were both listening in carefully.

Bella had dropped her keys into a puddle, before she could bend down and get them, Edward had already gotten them out for her.

"How do you do that?" she asked angrily.

"Do what" he asked handing her back the keys.

"Appear out of thin air."

"Bella, it's not my fault that you are exceptionally unobservant" Both he and I knew that wasn't true, she saw everything that he did. She looked up at him and her heartbeat increased, this is great she likes him! Although Edward didn't think that that's what it meant, he thought that she was scared of him. Did he know nothing about girls? Could he not tell from the way that she was looking at him that she wasn't scared of him, she liked him.

"Why the traffic jam last night?" She asked not looking at him "I thought you were meant to be pretending I don't exist, not irritating me to death."

"That was for Tyler's sake, not mine. I had to give him his chance."

"You -" she gasped not finishing her sentence. Edward had to stifle a laugh, it was a good thing that he did because I don't think that she was in the mood to be laughed at right then.

"And I'm not pretending you don't exist" He said trying to distract her.

"So you are trying to irritate me to death? Since Tyler's van didn't do the job?" She asked annoyed. Edward got angry, he wanted nothing to ever hurt her again but she didn't know that.

"Bella you are utterly absurd!" he snapped at her. She flushed and walked away.

"Wait!" he called after her, but she didn't stop. It didn't matter he caught up to her in a few strides. "I'm sorry, that was rude," he said as they walked. "I'm not saying it isn't true, but it was rude to say it anyway."

"Why won't you leave me alone?" she grumbled

"I wanted to ask you something, but you sidetracked me," he chuckled, I was getting excited now, he was getting somewhere with her.

"Do you have a multiple personality disorder?"

"You're doing it again." It wasn't fair, I had been practising for years on how to distract that one-track mind and here she seemed to be a natural at it.
