"Franny," Theodosia giggled, poking at Frances' face as Frances scrolled through Instagram on her phone, trying to ignore the girl in her lap.

"Pay attention to me, Franny!" Frances rolled her eyes pulling up her group chat with Philip and George, hoping to see a response from either of them.

But no luck, her extensive amount of texts went unanswered, slightly disappointing Frances. Yet she brushed it off, returning to social media, pushing away her thoughts of her brother and his boyfriend.

Theodosia huffed, having enough of the lack of attention from the girl, so she grabbed Frances' phone from her hands mischievously.

"What the fuck?! Give me my phone back, asshole," Frances said, glaring at Theodosia, who shook her head, a mischievous smirk on her face.

"Nope," Theo said in a sing-song tone. "Not until you kiss me."

"Wow, you really are fucking drunk," Frances mumbled, raising an eyebrow as Theodosia leaned in. Frances put her hand in front of Theodosia's face, stopping her from coming any closer. "Theo, I'm not going to kiss you."

Theodosia pouted, crossing her arms. "Why not?" She whined, running her hands through Frances' hair.

"Because you're drunk, and I'm not going to be that asshole who takes advantage of you. Yeah, I'm my father's child, but I'm not that bad of a person. Maybe I should just leave," Frances said biting her lip.

Theodosia shook her head profusely, wrapping her arms tightly around Frances. "Alright, fine. I'll stay," Frances chuckled, looking down at Theodosia fondly, the girl looking exhausted as she curled up in Frances' lap.

"Franny I'm tired," Theodosia mumbled sleepily, nuzzling her face into the crook of Frances' neck.

"Well let's get you to bed," Frances said, standing, Theodosia still tightly wrapped in his arms. She wandered the house, eventually finding what she assumed to be Theodosia's room, setting Theo carefully on the bed.

Theodosia immediately retreated under the covers, pulling them tightly around herself, grinning at the newfound warmth. Frances smiled, stepping back from the bed.

"Goodnight Theo," she said softly, before turning around, getting only a few feet away from the bed before she felt a hand wrap tightly around her wrist. She turned, seeing Theodosia nearly falling out of the bed because she had to lurch to grab Frances' wrist.

"Stay," Theodosia said, tugging on Frances' arm, her dark brown eyes begging Frances not to go.

"Theo, I really shouldn't-"

"Just lay with me? Please?" Theo requested, pulling harder on Frances' arm. Frances bit her lip, giving in as she crawled into bed with Theodosia, almost immediately regretting everything as Theo cuddled into her, smiling as she rested her head on Frances' chest. Frances hummed softly, rubbing Theodosia's back, staring out the window, not being able to sleep.

Soon enough she heard Theodosia's breathing even out, the girl completely asleep, her arms still wrapped around Frances, making it impossible for her to leave without waking Theo.

"Dammit," Frances smiled at her sadly, admiring Theodosia's sleeping features in the darkness, the way her curls fell over her face, how even though she was sleeping she still had a intoxicated-looking grin on her face. "You know what Theo?" Frances asked as she brushed Theodosia's hair from her face, tucking her black curls behind her ear. She knew she wouldn't get a response from the sleeping girl, and she didn't need one. "I wish things were different... Like between us."

Frances returned her focus to the window, not wanting to look at Theo as she spoke. "I wish I knew how to talk to you instead of jokingly insulting you all the time. I know your dad hates us Hamiltons and everything, but I wish he didn't." Frances felt tears sting at her eyes shut as she glanced down at Theodosia. "But most of all, I wish you were happy."

Tears rolled down Frances' face as she pressed a soft kiss to Theodosia's forehead, though she knew she shouldn't. She didn't have any right to, but she just couldn't stop herself.

"I know your mother was important to you. You always seemed so happy around her, like she was your world. Hell, she probably was, wasn't she?" Frances chuckled sadly, though it almost sounded bitter. "I wish I could be that for you. But that'll never happen. You hate me and my entire family because your father tells you we're bad people, and I act like I hate you."

Frances bit her lip, squeezing her eyes shut as tears cascaded down her face. She took a shaky breath, giving Theodosia another quick glance.

"That's just the way it is."
