i finally heard from mickey that the cops had ian and the baby. they went to somewhere called terra haute.
lip got a car and he drove mickey, carl, debbie and i to go get ian.
"shit." lip said.
"fiona?" debbie asked.
"i'm just getting her voicemail." lip replied.
"want me to try texting her again?" debbie asked.
"doesn't hurt." lip replied.
"i'm sorry. i should have listened to you guys." mickey said to lip and i.
"yeah, you should have." lip said.
"i didn't know things could get this bad." mickey said.
"it can get worse." lip said as i looked over at him.
"it can get much worse." i said looking down at my fingers as i fiddled with them.
we finally got at the police station and we all got out of the car except for carl.
"hey, you coming?" lip asked him.
"i should probably stay in the car." carl replied.
"why?" lip asked.
"i might have a pound of weed on me." carl said showing the bag.
"jesus christ, that's a pound?" lip asked.
"give or take." carl replied.
"yeah, so he should probably stay here." i said.
"all right, then you can stay in the car, but we're gonna talk about this later, all right?" lip told carl.
the four of us walked into the police station and we saw a cop behind the desk.
"hey, excuse me. i-i got a call about my brother being in here, ian gallagher?" lip asked him.
"yeah, that's me. i was the arresting officer. does your brother have a history of mental illness?" the cop asked.
"yes." lip replied.
"he was acting irrationally, left a baby locked inside of a hot car, and then he ran away when we tried to question him." the cop explained.
