We never actually returned to that place. After everything burned to the ground, we had to skip town. People kept pointing fingers and eventually the blame came to lay on us. Our friends tried to defend us, but no one believed them. We figured it would be easier for everyone if we just left. Our friends were sad to see us leave. They still contacted us sometimes, but it was becoming less frequent.
Now I live in a different mountain range with him. No one knows us here and we live on the very outskirts of another small town. I had tried the city life once and decided it was not for me. We have been here for a few months and so far it has been good. The house was quaint and had a tranquil atmosphere. I loved it. I loved the forest surrounding it. I loved the sounds of nature, and the wolves' howls in the night. The people were wonderful- friendly and kind natured with old souls.
We decided to settle down here and finally start our family. It was easy to forget the outside world and what was going on with it. I smiled at him as he lightly caressed my belly while staring at the two little lines. His gaze came back to my face and he grinned. We were ecstatic, unable to believe what our eyes were telling us. I had to be sure so I took a few more of them. When positive results greeted us every time, we finally let ourselves believe the news. I laughed as my feet left the ground. His arms were tight around my waist as he swung me around with a gleeful laugh. That afternoon I called the town physician and scheduled my first appointment in a long line of appointments.
