The six year old Ebony Winston sat down on the footsteps of her house. It was a cold and windy night, but the girl hadn't even shivered, watching the street in front of her with a neutral expression.

The sounds of an argument could be heard from the house. A man and a woman, both shouting at each other in anger, while Ebony just sat there, ignoring it.

She was used to it by now. Her parents fought a lot.

As the cold wind whooshed past her small body, Ebony felt her hair slowly rising up, but falling back down as soon as the wind disappeared.

Suddenly, the soft sound of footsteps started coming her way. Ebony looked around, keeping her expression. She was left confused as there was nobody around, but she didn't let her face show it.

But when she turned around, she felt a presence. Suddenly, she felt like she was being tucked into a tube, and found herself in the darkness.

"Hello, Ebony," said the voice of a female. Ebony twirled around in surprise. That was her voice.

Standing right in front of her now, was herself, but only, she couldn't see her face, as it was covered in the shadows.

"Who are you?" she asked, keeping calm as she wondered about where she was.

"I am you." the voice said. Ebony felt something in it that she never felt in her own voice, but she couldn't put a name to it.

"You sound different than me," she pointed out, her eyes narrowing as she eyed her reflection suspiciously. "I'm going to ask you again: who are you?"

The figure laughed, sending chills down Ebony's body. She didn't mind the cold, but this, this was another level.

"Alright, you caught me," it said, a hint of mischief in its voice. "I was only partly right. The truth is, I am a part of you."

The girl narrowed her eyes at it again.

"The evil part of me, I assume?" she guessed. "As you sound like the dark side of me."

The voice hummed in satisfaction.

"I see you are bright," it said. "But are you bright enough to keep me away from you?"

The girl thought for a minute to reply.

"A dark side cannot be kept away from a person," she replied finally. "It can only be kept hidden, as a dark secret."

A cold chuckle left the figure's lips.

"A dark secret, how very fitting." it said.

Ebony pursed her lips.

"I assumed." She replied. "I am guessing you have a name, my dark side?"

The figure slowly stepped out of the shadows, its face finally coming in light. Though, instead of seeing we own reflection, Ebony only saw a mixed up blur on it.

"Blurryface..." The name had escaped Ebony's lips without her realizing it.

The dark figure let out an amused chuckle.

"That is correct," it said. Suddenly, Ebony felt someone shaking her, and saw the figure slowly fading away. "I will see you soon, Ebony Blaire Winston."

And with that, the remaining of the figure faded away, leaving Ebony with an uncomfortable feeling as she repeated its name in her head over and over again.
