Chapter 4:
‘Impossible.’
That was the first thought that registered in my head. My Jase! My Jason was back and was living next door again. The guy in school whom I think as a yummy piece is in real my Jase.
They had come back after 5 years. 5 freakin’ long years. And when they are back nobody tells me that. Several emotions swirled inside my head like a whirlwind.
I stared at my mom like she had grown a second head. I just couldn’t digest it.
My mom came up to me, wiped the tears off my cheeks that had fallen without my notice and hugged me. “I understand sweetheart. It’s a shock for you and these are happy tears. All of us wanted this to be a surprise for you.”
She pulled out of the hug and looked behind us.
I turned to see the Blackwaters family.
Jacob stood there with Emma by his side. I couldn’t note any visible changes in them from 5 years ago but certainly Mr.Blackwaters had some wrinkles on his forehead though he looked quite young for his age at the age of forty-five.
And Emma, she had quite a nice tan.
My father stood there beside them and I saved my eyes for Jason for the last. He stood there looking at me.
Suddenly it all clicked. How he had called me Anns. It obviously wasn’t just like that. Only he used to call me Anns. And how he knew that I loved pizza. Because I used to eat pizza practically every day before I left. The amount had decreased after he had left.
I looked up at him. His blue orbs pierced mine as he stared at me trying to guess my reaction.
But what I did surprised me even.
I turned around and ran up the stairs to my room aware of the tears now falling freely down my cheeks.
I slammed my door too hard that the whole house echoed with the loud bang.
I flung my body on my bed and buried my head in my pillow and cried like I did when I first got the news that Jase had left.
I wanted to laugh at the situation that once he had gone away I had cried so hard and now that he has come back, I ‘am still crying like hell. But this time I didn’t quite understand why I was crying.
All the times when I had wished for him to come back, I had always thought that I’ll go hug him first and then beat the hell out of him for leaving without any notice and not even trying to contact me when he was in Canada. But what I did surprised me too.
I was never the one to run away from situations. Okay maybe from tough situations but…instead I’ am balling my eyes out, wetting my pillow.
A soft knock on my door interrupted the thoughts going on in my head at lightning speed.
Of course it was my mother I bet. “Please mom leave me alone.”
There was no answer for a while and all my unconscious fears were confirmed. “It’s me Anns. Jason.”
“Don’t call me Anns.”
“Why?” I could hear the smile in his voice even though I couldn’t see him through the closed door.
“Because someone close to me used to call me that name.”
“And now he is here.”
“No he isn’t.”
“Open the door and see for yourself.”
“No. Leave me alone stranger!”
“Anns please open the door. Let me in.”
